Purpose Non-invasive axon diameter distribution (ADD) mapping using diffusion MRI is an ill-posed problem. Current ADD mapping methods require knowledge of axon orientation before performing the acquisition. Instead, ActiveAx uses a 3D sampling scheme to e ...

With the rise of open data, identifiability of individuals based on 3D renderings obtained from routine structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the head has become a growing privacy concern. To protect subject privacy, several algorithms have ...

Higher risk for long-term behavioral and emotional sequelae, with attentional problems (with or without hyperactivity) is now becoming one of the hallmarks of extreme premature (EP) birth and birth after pregancy conditions leading to poor intra uterine growth restriction (IUGR) [1,2]. However, little is know so far about the neurostructural basis of these complexe brain functional abnormalities that seem to have their origins in early critical periods of brain development. The development of cortical axona

Tractography algorithms provide us with the ability to non-invasively reconstruct fiber pathways in the white matter (WM) by exploiting the directional information described with diffusion magnetic resonance. These methods could be divided into two major c ...

Schizophrenia is postulated to be the prototypical dysconnection disorder, in which hallucinations are the core symptom. Due to high heterogeneity in methodology across studies and the clinical phenotype, it remains unclear whether the structural brain dys ...

Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) has demonstrated great capabilities to quantify tissue microstructure using biophysical diffusion models. Over the years, various gradient sequences have been proposed to provide sensitivity and specificity to va ...

Recovering the distribution from multi-echo magnetic resonance (MR) signals is challenging but has high potential as it provides biomarkers characterizing the tissue micro-structure, such as the myelin water fraction (MWF). In this work, we propose to comb ...

Purpose To exploit the improved comparability and hardware independency of quantitative MRI, databases of MR physical parameters in healthy tissue are required, to which tissue properties of patients can be compared. In this work, normative values for long ...

Sparse arrays are a topic of high interest within the ultrasound (US) imaging community, because of their promising ability to reduce costs, complexity, energy consumption, and data transfer requirements of US systems, thus addressing the main challenges o ...

(1) Background: The morphology of the pelvic cavity is important for decision-making in obstetrics. This study aimed to estimate the accuracy and reliability of pelvimetry measures obtained when radiologists manually label anatomical landmarks on three-dim ...

The study of brain dynamics enables us to characterize the time-varying functional connectivity among distinct neural groups. However, current methods suffer from the absence of structural connectivity information. We propose to integrate infra-slow neural ...

In recent decades, finite element (FE) techniques have been extensively used for predicting effective properties of random heterogeneous materials. In the case of very complex microstructures, the choice of numerical methods for the solution of this proble ...

Patients with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) suffer from widespread subtle white matter abnormalities and abnormal functional connectivity extending beyond the affected lobe, as revealed by Diffusion Tensor MR Imaging, volumetric and functional MRI studies. Diffusion Spectrum Imaging (DSI) is a diffusion imaging technique with high angular resolution for improving the mapping of white matter pathways. In this study, we used DSI, connectivity matrices and topological measures to investigate how the alteration

In medical image segmentation, supervised deep networks' success comes at the cost of requiring abundant labeled data. While asking domain experts to annotate only one or a few of the cohort's images is feasible, annotating all available images is impracti ...

Microstructure imaging from diffusion magnetic resonance (MR) data represents an invaluable tool to study non-invasively the morphology of tissues and to provide a biological insight into their microstructural organization. In recent years, a variety of bi ...

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory and neurodegenerative disease characterized by diffuse and focal areas of tissue loss. Conventional MRI techniques such as T1-weighted and T2-weighted scans are generally used in the diagnosis and prognosis of the ...

In this paper, we present an efficient numerical scheme for the recently introduced geodesic active fields (GAF) framework for geometric image registration. This framework considers the registration task as a weighted minimal surface problem. Hence, the da ...

Survival of children born prematurely or with very low birth weight has increased dramatically but the long term developmental outcome remains a concern with many children having deficits in their cognitive capacities, in particular involving executive domains. The origins of these disabilities are largely unknown but are likely to involve an overriding central nervous system deficit. In prior studies we and others had shown that both prematurity and IUGR affect newborn brain structures (cite Inder TE 2005,

The growing global obesity issue emphasizes the importance of understanding its health implications. Previous research has identified consistent alterations in gray matter (GM) volume in connection with obesity. Given the various implications of distinct f ...

Cardiac arrhythmias (CAs) are associated with critical heart-related complications such as stroke or heart failure. Because of the intermittent and asymptomatic presentation of some CAs in their early stages, the screening remains limited using traditional methods based on ECG. Recent advances in photoplethysmography (PPG) have revealed substantial potential for wearable devices to detect CAs within large populations. Although PPG has demonstrated efficiency in discriminating atrial fibrillation (AF) from n
