This paper presents automated segmentation of structures in the Head and Neck (H&N) region, using an active contour-based joint registration and segmentation model. A new atlas selection strategy is also used. Segmentation is performed based on the dense ...

In this work we investigate the combination of Model-based Accelerated RelaxomeTry by Iterative Nonlinear Inversion (MARTINI) with Generalized Autocalibrating Partially Parallel Acquisition (GRAPPA) to further accelerate and improve the reconstruction quality of T2 maps. GRAPPA is used to interpolate missing k-space lines of two-fold subsampled blocks of the MARTINI scheme prior to the MARTINI reconstruction. Images from an analytical phantom and in-vivo datasets are investigated. Resulting T2 maps of nomin

In the central nervous system of primates, several pathways are characterized by different spectra of axon diameters. In vivo methods, based on diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging, can provide axon diameter index estimates non-invasively. However ...

In diffusion MRI, standard approaches for fibertract identification are based on algorithms that generate lines of coherent diffusion, currently known as tractography. A tract is then identified as a set of such lines selected on some criteria. In the pres ...

In this paper, we propose a novel method to register images defined on spherical meshes. Instances of such spherical images include inflated cortical feature maps in brain medical imaging or images from omnidirectional cameras. We apply the Geodesic Active ...

We present a method for combining a number of Support Vector Machines trained independently in the eigenface space and we apply it to face class modeling. We first train several

Designing Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) running on edge hardware remains a challenge. Standard designs have been adopted by the community to facilitate the deployment of Neural Network models. However, not much emphasis is put on adapting the network topolog ...

Background and objective: Compared to the conventional magnetization-prepared rapid gradient-echo imaging (MPRAGE) MRI sequence, the specialized magnetization prepared 2 rapid acquisition gradient echoes (MP2RAGE) shows a higher brain tissue and lesion con ...

Screening Papanicolaou test samples has proven to be highly effective in reducing cervical cancer-related mortality. However, the lack of trained cytopathologists hinders its widespread implementation in low-resource settings. Deep learning-assisted telecy ...

Image recovery in optical interferometry is an ill-posed nonlinear inverse problem arising from incomplete power spectrum and bispectrum measurements. We review our previous work, which reformulates this nonlinear problem in the framework of tensor recover ...

A multimodal probabilistic framework is proposed for the problem of finding the active speaker in a video sequence. We localize the current speaker's mouth in the image by using the video and the audio channels together. We propose a novel visual feature t ...

Interindividual functional and structural brain variability is a major problem in group studies, in which very focal activations are expected. Architectonic studies have shown that the human primary auditory area, which is located with a great constancy on ...

We present a feature selection method based on information theoretic measures, targeted at multimodal signal processing, showing how we can quantitatively assess the relevance of features from different modalities. We are able to find the features with the ...

Introduction: Several imaging modalities are under investigation to unravel the pathophysiological mystery of delayed performance deficits in patients after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). Although both imaging and neuropsychological studies have been ...

This study presents a real-time depth estimation hardware system aiming to provide high-resolution depth data and to eliminate its noise on textureless regions without causing any interference problem by utilizing artificial pattern projection. The system ...

The use of omnidirectional cameras for videoconferencing promises to simplify the hardware setup necessary for large groups of participants. We investigate the use of a multimodal speaker detection algorithm on audio-visual sequences captured with such a c ...

Study objectives Sleep staging is usually performed by manual scoring of polysomnography (PSG), which is expensive, laborious, and poorly scalable. We propose an alternative to PSG for ambulatory sleep staging using wearable photoplethysmography (PPG) reco ...
