A series of C-doped, W-doped, and C,W-codoped TiO2 samples have been prepared using modified sol-gel techniques. Reproducible inexpensive C-doping arises from the presence of melamine borate in a sol-gel mixture, whereas W-doping is from the addition of tu ...

The photocatalytic apparatus for the production of hydrogen from water or aqueous solutions of organic compounds by using light energy, comprises a light source, a reactor transparent for the light of the light source (2), an inlet (4) for feeding water or aqueous solution to the reactor, a gas produ

A chromophore containing a coplanar dihexyl-substituted dithienosilole (CL1) synthesised for use in dye-sensitised solar cells displayed an energy conversion efficiency of 6.90% under AM 1.5 sunlight irradiation. The new sensitiser showed a similar fill fa ...

Polyethylene block-copolymer films containing negative anhydride groups were used to immobilize TiO2, Fe2O3, and Fe3+ photocatalysts. The kinetics of the mineralization of azo-dye Orange II and chlorophenols on copolymer−TiO2, copolymer−Fe2O3, and copolymer−Fe3+ have been tested under optimized experimental conditions. In the case of copolymer−TiO2, the degradation kinetics for the model organic compounds were about the same as those observed with TiO2 suspensions containing about a 27 times higher amount o

The Photocatalytic film of semiconducting iron oxide (Fe2O3), contains an n-dopant, or a mixture of n-dopants, or a p-dopant or a mixture of p-dopants. Electrode consists of a substrate, with one ore more films or photocatalytic arrangements of film of semiconducting n-doped or p-doped iron oxide (Fe2O3) e.g. on the surface of one side of the substrate or on the surface of different sides. The photoelectrochemical cell comprises electrodes with a film or with films of the n-doped or p-doped semiconducting i

This paper presents an overview of the research carried out by a European consortium with the aim to develop and test new and improved ways to realise dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) with enhanced efficiencies and stabilities. Several new areas have been ...

Samples of yttria-stabilized zirconia manufactured by the following fabrication procedures, were obtained from commercial sources: (i) hot isostatic pressing; (ii) tape casting; (iii) vacuum plasma spraying, and (iv) calendering. The ionic conductivities of these samples were measured by (a) impedance spectroscopy; (b) the four-point probe method; (c) the current-interruption technique, and (d) the van der Pauw technique. The tape-cast and hot pressed samples showed good and very reproducible conductivity v

A sensitive chemiluminescence (CL)-based immunoassay technique based on both dipstick and flow injection analytical formats is reported for the detection of atrazine. In the dipstick-based immunoassay technique, antibody (anti-atrazine) was first immobiliz ...

Supported photooxidation catalysts containing a metal oxide or metal ion as catalyst which is fixed to the support by means of carboxylate moieties are an alternative to existing such catalysts, particularly if low cost supports such as organic polymers, particularly polyethylene, are used. The supported photocatalysts can be used in mineralisation of organic pollutants in both liquids and gases and show reduced leaching of the catalyst and good resistance towards reactive oxygen species generated during th

The present invention relates to a system using and/or processing fuel, wherein a catalytically active element is desensitised to impurities present in the fuel. The inventors thus surprisingly found that a fuel processing system, which may be a fuel cell ...

A catalyst having a mixture of Ru and RuOx, wherein x is greater than 0 and equal to or less than 2, supported by a suitable metal oxide support material is suitable for the heterogeneous catalytic gas phase direct methane production from hydrogen and carbon dioxide at mild temperatures as low as 25 DEG C. and atmospheric pressure. Photo-methanation using such catalysts having photoexcitable support materials significantly increases the rate of methane production and the methane yield, yielding almost stoic

A structural analysis of the Ru—RuOx/TiO2 catalyst has been carried out. This catalyst is active for CO2 methanation at low temperatures. The preparation conditions are critical in generating the selective dispersion of the metallic particles on rutile crystallites in TiO2-P25. This distribution is limited to the most active samples (CH4 rate = 70 µl/h). On reducing the catalyst at 500°C, in 1 : 1 Ar + H2 for 1 h, Ru metal particles of not, vert, similar 5 nm have been obtained. These particles have a perfe

Supported palladium oxide catalysts are able to convert CH4 to C2H6, CO, CO2, H2 and H2O at temperatures ⩾315 °C. Catalysts did not show any support effect when TiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2, La2O3 and MgO were used as supports. With sequential O2 pulsing the catalyst showed long term activity when used at temperatures below 400 °C. Addition of Pt increased selectivity whereas with Ga it decreased. Results indicate participation of lattice O2 from catalyst in the reaction pathway.

The tandem photovoltaic conversion device comprises at least one top photovoltaic cell unit and one bottom photovoltaic cell unit laminated along a light transmitting direction and electrically connected, wherein said top cell unit is a dye sensitised or s ...
