Solar cells that operate efficiently under indoor lighting are of great practical interest as they can serve as electric power sources for portable electronics and devices for wireless sensor networks or the Internet of Things. Here, we demonstrate a dye-s ...

Two new D−A−π-spacer−A organic dyes, KM-10 and KM-11, containing a benzothiadiazole unit in a π-spacer and a cyanoacrylic acid as an acceptor have been synthesized and tested as sensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells. Structural variations of the donor ...

High extinction coefficients and easily tunable spectral properties of π - conjugated donor-acceptor dyes are of superior advantage for the design of new metal- free organic sensitizers for applications in dye-sensitized solar cells. Ultrafast transient ab ...

A new tandem electrolyte composed of two redox pairs, the organic radical 2-azaadamantane-N-oxyl (AZ) and the well-known redox pair Co(bpy)(3) was investigated in dye sensitized solar cells. Importantly, an increase in V-OC was achieved using the ...

Combining halide perovskites with tailored dimensionality into two/three-dimensional (2D/3D) systems has revealed a powerful strategy to boost the performances of perovskite photovoltaics (PVs). Despite recent advances, a clear understanding of the intimat ...

A widely used component of high-efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is the molecular hole-transport material (HTM) spiro-OMeTAD. This organic solid needs to be p-doped to acquire sufficient hole conductivity. However, the conventional doping method us ...

We report spectroelectrochemical and transient absorption spectroscopic studies of electron injection from the plant pigment betanin (Bt) to nanocrystalline TiO2. Spectroelectrochemical experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations are used ...

Layered hybrid organic−inorganic perovskite (LHOIP) materials constructed with low-band-gap chromophore-based organic spacer cations are anemerging class of materials that promise unique tunability of their optoelectronic properties. However, the large siz ...

Contactless dye-sensitised nano-photoelectrodes assembled at polarisable liquid|liquid interfaces exhibit photocurrent responses originating from the heterogeneous photooxidation of ferrocene by the colloids. The photocurrent spectra of the nanoparticle assembly sensitised by alizarin indicate that the photoreaction is initiated by an ultrafast electron injection from the dye into the conduction band of the TiO2 particles, followed by heterogeneous electron transfer from ferrocene to the oxidised dye, as sh

The application of perovskite photovoltaics is hampered by issues related to the operational stability upon exposure to external stimuli, such as voltage bias and light. The dynamic control of the properties of perovskite materials in response to light cou ...

Long-lasting charge separation is key to the performance of solar cells. A new design for larger conjugated dye-sensitizer molecules effectively retards the recombination of the charge-separated state and promises improved energy conversion effi ciency. ...

The high conversion efficiency has made metal halide perovskite solar cells a real break-through in thin film photovoltaic technology in recent years. Here, we introduce a straight-forward strategy to reduce the level of electronic defects present at the i ...

Layered hybrid perovskites based on Dion−Jacobson phases are of interest to various optoelectronic applications. However, the understanding of their structure−property relationships remains limited. Here, we present a systematic study of Dion−Jacobson pero ...

Azulene is a prototypical molecule with ananomalousfluorescence from the second excited electronic state, thus violating Kasha’s rule, and with an emission spectrum thatcannot be understood within the Condon approximation. To betterunderstand the photophysi ...
