Multi-walled carbon nanotubes functionalized by carboxylic groups, exhibit better affinity towards TiO2 (P90, Degussa) as compared to that of pristine nanotubes. Also the electrochemical performance of TiO2 is improved by nanotube networking, but the Li-st ...

Iron oxides, especially hematite (alpha-Fe2O3), a are promising materials for applications in photoelectrochemical cells and photo-redox catalysis. However, realizing high-performance hematite photoanodes via an environmentally-friendly route remains a gre ...

Included in the dataset are detailed information into the crystallography, morphology, electronic properties, (photo)electrochemical and carrier dynamics of both single-crystal Cu2O thin films and polycrystalline Cu2O with favored crystal orientations. Mul ...

We present a novel “brick and mortar” strategy for creating highly efficient transparent TiO2 coatings for photocatalytic and photovoltaic applications. Our approach is based on the fusion of preformed titania nanocrystalline “bricks” through surfactant-te ...

Combining inorganic-organic perovskites and crystalline silicon into a monolithic tandem solar cell has recently attracted increased attention due to the high efficiency potential of this cell architecture. Promising results with published efficiencies abo ...

Understanding defects is of paramount importance for the development of stable halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, isolating their distinctive effects on device efficiency and stability is currently a challenge. We report that adding the organic ...

New sensing films have been developed for the detection of molecular oxygen. These films are based on luminescent Ir(III) dyes incorporated either into polystyrene (with and without plasticizer) or metal oxide, nanostructured material. The preparation and ...

The design and development of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) is currently often realized on an empirical basis. In view of assisting in this optimization process, we present the framework of a model which consists in a coupled optical and electrical mod ...

A series of organic D-pi-A sensitizers composed of different triarylamine donors in conjugation with the thienothiophene unit and cyanoacrylic acid as an acceptor has been synthesized at a moderate yield. Through tuning the number of methoxy substituents o ...

We present a systematic study on the effects of electrodeposition parameters on the photoelectrochemical properties of Cu2O. The influence of deposition variables (temperature, pH, and deposition current density) on conductivity has been widely explored in ...

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and transient voltage decay measurements are applied to compare the performance of dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs) using organic electrolytes, ionic liquids and organic-hole conductors as hole transport materi ...

Efficient and robust n-i-p perovskite solar cells necessitate superior organic hole-transport materials with both mechanical and electronic prowess. Deciphering the structure-property relationship of these materials is crucial for practical perovskite sola ...

The use of mixed self-assembled monolayers, combining hydrophobic co-adsorbents with the sensitizer, has been demonstrated to enhance the efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Herein, the influence of the anchoring groups of the co-adsorbents on ...

Efficiencies >20% are obtained from the perovskite solar cells (PSCs) employing Cs+ and Rb+ based perovskite compositions; therefore, it is important to understand the effect of these inorganic cations specifically Rb+ on the properties of perovskite struc ...

A synthetic protocol was developed for the preparation of thin mesoporous TiO2 films with enhanced thermal stability. This objective was achieved by a modification of the procedure of supramolecular templating by a Pluronic P-123 copolymer by an addition o ...

Batteries, fuel cells and solar cells, among many other high-current-density devices, could benefit from the precise meso-to macroscopic structure control afforded by the silica sol-gel process. The porous materials made by silica sol-gel chemistry are typ ...

Solar hydrogen generation by water splitting in photoelectrochemical cells (PEC) is an appealing technology for a future hydrogen economy. Hematite is a prospective photoanode material in this respect because of its visible light conjugated band gap, its c ...

Cobalt sulphide (CoS) films are potentiodynamically deposited on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) coated glass substrates employing one, three and five sweep cycles (CoS-I, CoS-III and CoS-V respectively). Analysis of the CoS-III film by impedance spectrosco ...

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells are attractive for storing solar energy in chemical bonds through cleaving of water into oxygen and hydrogen. Although hematite (alpha-Fe2O3) is a promising photoanode material owing to its chemical stability, suitable band ...

The anodic electrodeposition method is investigated as an alternative technique for the preparation of a titanium oxide (TiO2) blocking underlayer (UL) for perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Extremely thin Ti-IV-based films are grown from aqueous acidic titani ...
