The exotic properties of quantum spin liquids (QSLs) have continually been of interest since Anderson's 1973 ground-breaking idea. Geometrical frustration, quantum fluctuations, and low dimensionality are the most often evoked material's characteristics th ...

Photosynthetic reaction center (RC) is one of the most important proteins, because it is Nature's solar battery converting light energy into chemical potential in the photosynthetic membrane assuring conditions for carbon reduction in cells. Although it is ...

Polytypism in transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) introduces an additional degree of freedom for tailoring the electronic properties of layered van der Waals materials. Polytypes with larger unit cells, spanning four or six layers, can be viewed as natural homostructures, since their atomic composition remains identical across the layers. The resultant crystalline environments can potentially give rise to exotic electronic states, earning these materials recent attention. In this study, we examine struc

We present high frequency Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) results on a peapod sample. In a previous low frequency ESR study on peapods and double-walled nanotubes the observation of a non-Lorentzian line shape was reported. This effect was tentatively attrib ...

Among the correlated electronic systems, BaVS3 which exhibits both itinerant and localized states as well as a subtle interplay betwen charge, orbital, spin and lattice degrees of freedom, is a model system. Its electronic structure consists in a broad qua ...

H2O2 is a product of reactions catalysed by several oxidase enzymes and it is essential in environmental and pharmaceutical analyses. The most commonly used enzyme in understanding the biological behaviour of catalysed oxidation of H2O2 is horseradish pero ...

The charge response in barium vanadium sulfide (BaVS3) single crystals is characterized by dc resistivity and low-frequency dielectric spectroscopy. A broad relaxation mode in the megahertz range with a huge dielectric constant of approximate to 10(6) emer ...

Organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite (CH3NH3PbI3) solar cells have surpassed 25% power conversion efficiency, being ready for industrial-scale production of cheap photovoltaic (PV) panels. In this action, the major hurdle is its lead content, which in ...

Anisotropic magnetism of single crystal BaVSe3 was Studied for the first time by the combination of the susceptibility and torque methods. As reported previously for polycrystalline sample, BaVSe3 undergoes ferromagnetic ordering below 43 K. Well above fer ...

The demand for ever-increasing density of information storage and speed of manipulation boosts an intense search for new magnetic materials and novel ways of controlling the magnetic bit. Here, we report the synthesis of a ferromagnetic photovoltaic CH3NH3 ...

Plasma membrane tension and the pressure generated by actin polymerization are two antagonistic forces believed to define the protrusion rate at the leading edge of migrating cells [1-5]. Quantitatively, resistance to actin protrusion is a product of membr ...

We report on a highly efficient growth of graphene using dehydrogenation of acetylene by an oxidative reaction with carbon dioxide. In few seconds, large-area of copper foil used as catalyst of the reaction is fully covered with graphene. The yield of the ...

The mechanical response of individual titanate nanowires (H2Ti3O7), synthesized in an upscaled production (kg/month) was investigated by means of an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) in nanomechanical spectroscopic mode. Because of their layered structure, bes ...

We report on magnetic fluctuations studied by electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy in the layered organic crystal ?-(BEDT-TTF)2Cu[N(CN)2]Cl. A line broadening above the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature, TN?=?23?K is attributed to two-dimensiona ...

Catalyst activity during the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) growth by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is enhanced when water, a weak oxidizer, is introduced together with the carbon source. The height as well as the CNTs density can be controlled by fine-tuning t ...

To identify possible spin texture contributions to thermoelectric transport, we present a detailed temperature and pressure dependence of thermopower S in MnSi, as well as a lowtemperature study of S in a magnetic field. We find that S/T reconstructs the ( ...

The interaction of the cationic dye methylene blue (MB) with titanate nanowires (TiONWs) was investigated in different pH environments using visible spectroscopy and electrophoresis on thin films as well as in aqueous suspension. The surface charge of the ...

Homogeneous Mn2+ and Gd3+ intercalation of scroll-type trititanate nanotubes using a post-synthesis ion exchange method is reported. Compared to Mn2+, Gd3+ ion-exchange shows larger saturation intercalation levels. Upon co-doping, weak interactions between ...

There is uncertainty in understanding of the relationship between physico-chemical parameters of nanosized titanium dioxide (nano-TiO2) and its toxicity when brought into contact with living cells. This study provides a multidisciplinary experimental insig ...

Hybrid halide perovskites have demonstrated significant efficiency in detecting a broad spectrum of high-energy radiation, including X-rays, gamma rays (γ-rays), and neutrons. Given the common occurrence of mixed radiation fields, we investigated the perfo ...
