Context. ALMA observations show that dusty, distant, massive ( M similar to & 1011 M fi) galaxies usually have a remarkable star-formation activity, contributing of the order of 25% of the cosmic star-formation rate density at z similar to 3-5, and up to 3 ...

Absolute luminosity measurements are of general interest for colliding-beam experiments at storage rings. These measurements are necessary to determine the absolute cross-sections of reaction processes and are valuable to quantify the performance of the ac ...

Future data provided by the Euclid mission will allow us to better understand the cosmic history of the Universe. A metric of its performance is the figure-of-merit (FoM) of dark energy, usually estimated with Fisher forecasts. The expected FoM has previou ...

A sample of 114 +/- 11 B-s(0) -> J/psi K- pi(+) signal events obtained with 0.37 fb(-1) of pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment is used to measure the branching fraction and polarization amplitudes of the B-s(0) -> J/psi(K) over ...

Branching fractions of the decays H-b -> H-c pi(-)pi(+)pi(-) relative to H-b -> H-c pi(-) are presented, where H-b (H-c) represents (B) over bar (0) (D+), B-(D-0), (B) over bar (0)(s) (D-s(+)), and Lambda(0)(b) (Lambda(+)(c)). The measurements are performe ...

The effective lifetime of the (B) over bar (0)(s) meson in the decay mode (B) over bar (0)(s) -> J / psi f(0)(980) is measured using 1.0 fb(-1) of data collected in p p collisions at root s = 7 TeV with the LHCb detector. The result is 1.700 +/- 0.040 +/- ...

Heavy quark production in 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy pp collisions at the LHC is not necessarily flavour symmetric. The production asymmetry, A(P), between D-s(+) and D-s(-) mesons is studied using the phi pi(+/-) decay mode in a data sample of 1.0 fb(-1) ...

The decay mode B-s(0) -> (DsK +/-)-K--/+ allows for one of the theoretically cleanest measurements of the CKM angle gamma through the study of time-dependent CP violation. This paper reports a measurement of its branching fraction relative to the Cabibbo-f ...

The ratio of branching fractions of the radiative B decays B-0 -> K*(0)gamma and B(0)s -> phi gamma has been measured using 0.37 fb(-1) of pp collisions at a center of mass energy of root s = 7 TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment. The value obtained is B ...

Measurements of b hadron production ratios in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 3 pb(-1) are presented. We study the ratios of strange B meson to light B meson production f(s)/(f(u) + f(d)) and La ...

Charm production at the LHC in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV is studied with the LHCb detector. The decays D-0 -> K-pi(+), D+ -> K-pi(+)pi(+), D*(+) -> D-0(K-pi(+))pi(+), D-s(+) -> phi(K-K+)pi(+), Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+), and their charge conjugates a ...

The ratio of branching fractions of the radiative B decays B-0 -> K-*0 gamma and B-s(0) -> phi gamma has been measured using an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1) of pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = ...

Charged particle production in proton-proton collisions is studied with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7 TeV in different intervals of pseudorapidity eta. Charged particles are reconstructed close to the interaction region in the ...

The decay Bc(+) -> J/psi pi(+) pi(-) pi(+) is observed for the first time, using 0.8 fb(-1) of pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment. The ratio of branching fractions B(B-c(+) -> J/psi pi(+) pi(-) pi(+))/B(B-c(+) -> J/psi pi(+)) ...

Using pp collision data corresponding to 1.0 fb(-1) integrated luminosity collected by the LHCb detector, two narrow states are observed in the Lambda(0)(b) pi(+) pi(-) spectrum with masses 5911.97 +/- 0.12(stat) +/- 0.02(syst) +/- 0.66(Lambda(0)(b) mass) ...

Measurements of b-hadron masses are performed with the exclusive decay modes B+ --> J/psi K+, B-0 --> J/psi K-0*, B-0 --> J/psi K-S(0), B-s(0) --> j/psi phi and Lambda(0)(b) --> J/psi Lambda using all integrated luminosity of 35 pb(-1) collected in pp coll ...

We present a study of exclusive neutral pion production in neutrino-nucleus Neutral Current interactions using data from the NOMAD experiment at the CERN SPS. The data correspond to 1.44 × 106 muon-neutrino Charged Current interactions in the energy range ...

The production of J/psi mesons is studied with the LHCb detector using data from pp collisions at root s = 2.76 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 71 nb(-1). The differential cross-section for inclusive J/psi production is measured as a funct ...

The relative production rate of B-s(0) and B-0 mesons is determined with the hadronic decays B-s(0) -> D-s(-)pi(+) and B-0 -> D- K+. The measurement uses data corresponding to 1.0 fb(-1) of pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7 TeV recorde ...

Measurement of mixing-induced CP violation in (B) over bar (0)(s) decays is of prime importance in probing new physics. So far only the channel (B) over bar (0)(s) -> J/psi phi has been used. Here we report on a measurement using an LHCb data sample of 0.4 ...
