Description

This lecture introduces the concept of stereotomy through the creation of complex pavilions using panels and mucarnas, focusing on the assembly process, documentation, and geometric manipulations in Top-Solid software. The instructor demonstrates the creation of assemblies, parametric design, and the importance of parameterization for efficient design modifications.

Diplôme d'Architecture à l'EPFL en 1988 (prix SIA, section Vaud, du meilleur travail pratique de diplôme). Collaboration avec plusieurs bureaux d'architecture et, en parallèle, rédaction d'une thèse de doctorat suivie de l'obtention en 1992 du titre de Docteur ès Sciences. Bureau indépendant de 1996 à 2008; enseignement dans plusieurs écoles (dessin technique, peinture, couleurs). De 1999 à 2004, première assistante chez les professeurs Arduino Cantàfora (CRE) et Georges Abou Jaoudé (LIV, cours théorique, visualisation et représentation informatique). De 2005 à 2011, collaboratrice scientifique et chargée de cours auprès du professeur A. Cantàfora (CRE, chaire de représentation et expression) : enseignement pratique du dessin, peinture, et taille de la pierre, et théorique, analyse d'images, techniques de représentation, modes de communication, auprès des étudiants d'architecture de différents niveaux; rédaction de documentation pédagogique (cahiers d'appui des cours). Charge de cours pour une Unité d'Enseignement ENAC intitulée "Lectures du paysage par le biais de l'image et de l'art" avec Robert Ireland de 2006 à 2008. Responsable d'une nouvelle Unité d'Enseignement ENAC sur "les murs de soutènement urbains", printemps 2009 et 2010, avec O. Burdet, A. Parriaux, J-L. Moret. Participation ponctuelle en 2011, 2013 et 2014, pour l'UE-ENAC "Learning from vernacular", du professeur Pierre Frey sur la pierre et les traces de la main dans l'architecture vernaculaire. Recherche personnelle en cours sur les socles à la Renaissance italienne et française, en lien avec les professeurs Volker Hoffmann (Würzburg) et Roberto Gargiani (EPFL). Domaines d'intérêt spécifique: l'architecture à la Renaissance; la taille de la pierre et la stéréotomie; le dessin d'observation scientifique, la peinture et la gravure; la philosophie.

Computer-aided design

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is the use of computers (or ) to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. Solid modeling

Solid modeling (or solid modelling) is a consistent set of principles for mathematical and computer modeling of three-dimensional shapes (solids). Solid modeling is distinguished within the broader related areas of geometric modeling and computer graphics, such as 3D modeling, by its emphasis on physical fidelity. Together, the principles of geometric and solid modeling form the foundation of 3D-computer-aided design and in general support the creation, exchange, visualization, animation, interrogation, and annotation of digital models of physical objects.

SolidWorks

SolidWorks (stylized as SOLIDWORKS) is a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) application published by Dassault Systèmes. According to the publisher, over two million engineers and designers at more than 165,000 companies were using SolidWorks as of 2013. According to the company, fiscal year 2011–12 revenue for SolidWorks totaled $483 million. SolidWorks Corporation was founded in December 1993 by Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate Jon Hirschtick.

Parametric model

In statistics, a parametric model or parametric family or finite-dimensional model is a particular class of statistical models. Specifically, a parametric model is a family of probability distributions that has a finite number of parameters. A statistical model is a collection of probability distributions on some sample space. We assume that the collection, P, is indexed by some set Θ. The set Θ is called the parameter set or, more commonly, the parameter space.

Nonparametric statistics

Nonparametric statistics is the type of statistics that is not restricted by assumptions concerning the nature of the population from which a sample is drawn. This is opposed to parametric statistics, for which a problem is restricted a priori by assumptions concerning the specific distribution of the population (such as the normal distribution) and parameters (such the mean or variance).
