Philippe Wieser

Philippe Wieser obtained his diploma of engineer in mechanics at the EPFL in 1977 and he received his PhD in 1981. After a few years working in a engineering consulting company, he joined the EPFL as lecturer. His fields of research and teaching deal with logistics, supply chain management, information systems and integrated logistics, health supply chain and project management. Since May 2000, Philippe Wieser is the executive director of IML: International Institute for the Management of Logistics (EPFL - Lausanne and ENPC - Paris). In 2008 he was appointed Professeur titulaire at EPFL. Philippe Wieser teaches in EPFL-Lausanne (Minor, Master and Executive Master MSL), ENPC-Paris (Executive Master) and other European and African Universities. He is author or co-author of more than ninety publications and international conferences.

Rogers argues that diffusion is the process by which an innovation is communicated over time among the participants in a social system. The origins of the diffusion of innovations theory are varied and span multiple disciplines.

Disruptive innovation

In business theory, disruptive innovation is innovation that creates a new market and value network or enters at the bottom of an existing market and eventually displaces established market-leading firms, products, and alliances. The term, "disruptive innovation" was popularized by the American academic Clayton Christensen and his collaborators beginning in 1995,, but the concept had been previously described in Richard N. Foster's book "Innovation: The Attacker's Advantage" and in the paper Strategic Responses to Technological Threats.

Supply chain

A supply chain, sometimes expressed as a "supply-chain", is a complex logistics system that consists of facilities that convert raw materials into finished products and distribute them to end consumers or end customers. Meanwhile, supply chain management deals with the flow of goods within the supply chain in the most efficient manner. In sophisticated supply chain systems, used products may re-enter the supply chain at any point where residual value is recyclable. Supply chains link value chains.
