This lecture discusses the possibility of an astronaut being able to distinguish a house from 250 km in orbit, based on the Rayleigh criterion which relates the wavelength of light, the angle it forms with the retina, and the pupil diameter. By applying this criterion to the scenario, considering a pupil diameter of 5 mm and a visible light wavelength of 500 nm, it is theoretically possible to distinguish a house at that distance.
