This paper presents a robust design of a megawattscale medium-voltage (MV) direct current transformer (DCT) that features a bidirectional LLC resonant converter topology. This topology harnesses the inherent ability to control power flow seamlessly between ...

Atomically thin graphene membranes with sub-1-nm pores show promise for ion/molecular separation, osmotic energy generation, and energy storage. Narrowing the pore size distribution and controlling the surface charge are essential to achieve these applicat ...

Supplying electricity, heat and cold is an essential part in the development of more sustainable city districts. Previous papers have illustrated the interest of using the exergy efficiency concept to decompose the problem and rank the technology combinati ...

Typical unsteady vortex-dominated flows like those involved in bio-inspired propulsion, airfoil separation, bluff body wakes, and vortex-induced vibrations can be prohibitively expensive to simulate and impossible to measure comprehensively. These examples ...

Biogas, a renewable energy source, is primarily composed of CH4 and CO2. It is a promising alternative to fossil fuels and can be used directly for electricity production as well as heat generation via combustion. Concerns about climate change and a greate ...

Deep understanding of the chemical reaction and physical transport characteristics of 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one (6-MHO) in different phases (e.g., skin, clothing) is important for modeling the indoor squalene/ozone reaction. In this study, we make the first ...

As the share of Converter-Interfaced Distributed Energy Resources (CIDERs) in power distribution systems increases, hybrid AC/DC distribution systems are drawing more interest. Indeed, CIDERs usually rely on DC power and hybrid AC/DC grids with few Network ...

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) CO2 reduction has received considerable attention given the inherent sustainability and simplicity of directly converting solar energy into carbonbased chemical fuels. However, complex photocathode architectures with protecting l ...

Marker-based Optical Motion Capture (OMC) systems and associated musculoskeletal (MSK) modelling predictions offer non-invasively obtainable insights into muscle and joint loading at an in vivo level, aiding clinical decision-making. However, an OMC system ...

Solar and wind assets are climate-dependent and changes in climate will result in variations in their generation and intermittency. Developers of solar and wind parks in India have observed changes in climate conditions and variability in solar irradiation ...

Several contrasting effects are reported in the existing literature concerning the impact assessment of the COVID19 outbreak on the use of energy in buildings. Following an in-depth literature review, we here propose a GISbased approach, based on pre-pande ...

The photovoltaic performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) prepared by the low-temperature solution method has made rapid progress. However, the surface of the film is prone to defects that trap photogenerated charges, resulting in nonradiative recombin ...

Making large datasets findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable could accelerate technology development. Now, Jacobsson et al. present an approach to build an open-access database and analysis tool for perovskite solar cells. ...

Microswimmers are ubiquitous in nature and present highly-dynamic collective motion. This study presents computational simulations of spheroidal model-microswimmers confined between two walls, revealing two collective dynamic states, giant motile clusters ...

Wireless sensor nodes (WSNs) are the fundamental part of an Internet of Things (IoT) system for detecting and transmitting data to a master node for processing. Several research studies reveal that one of the disadvantages of conventional, battery-powered ...

Water inherent optical properties (IOPs) contain integrative information on the optical constituents of surface waters. In lakes, IOP measurements have not been traditionally collected. This study describes how high-frequency IOP profiles can be used to do ...

This paper presents a versatile cable-driven robotic interface to investigate the single-joint joint neuromechanics of the hip, knee and ankle in the sagittal plane. This endpoint-based interface offers highly dynamic interaction and accurate position cont ...

We employ a synergistic material and process development strategy to improve the performance of a single-cycle vacuum pressure swing adsorption (VPSA) process for the hydrogen purification and the CO2 separation from reforming-based hydrogen synthesis. Bas ...
