In this paper, we propose a methodology for the estimation of the pose of oblique landscape images. Knowledge about the pose is needed for using such images in augmented reality applications or to allow projection of pixels in a GIS for spatial analysis. W ...

We introduce a novel framework for image-based 3D reconstruction of urban buildings based on symmetry priors. Starting from image-level edges, we generate a sparse and approximate set of consistent 3D lines. These lines are then used to simultaneously dete ...

We address the problem of determining where a photo was taken by estimating a full 6-DOF-plus-intrincs camera pose with respect to a large geo-registered 3D point cloud, bringing together research on image localization, landmark recognition, and 3D pose es ...

In this thesis, we focus on the problem of recovering 3D shapes of deformable surfaces from a single camera. This problem is known to be ill-posed as for a given 2D input image there exist many 3D shapes that give visually identical projections. We present ...

We address the problem of depth and ego-motion estimation from omnidirectional images. We propose a correspondence-free structure from motion problem for images mapped on the 2-sphere. A novel graph-based variational framework is proposed for depth estimat ...

Recent works have shown that 3D shape of non-rigid surfaces can be accurately retrieved from a single im- age given a set of 3D-to-2D correspondences between that image and another one for which the shape is known. However, existing approaches assume that ...

Object tracking and detection over a wide range of viewpoints is a long-standing problem in Computer Vision. Despite significant advance in wide-baseline sparse interest point matching and development of robust dense feature models, it remains a largely op ...

Demand has emerged for next generation visual technologies that go beyond conventional 2D imaging. Such technologies should capture and communicate all perceptually relevant three-dimensional information about an environment to a distant observer, providin ...

It has recently been shown that deformable 3D surfaces could be recovered from single video streams. However, existing techniques either require a reference view in which the shape of the surface is known a priori, which often may not be available, or requ ...
