Recently, substantial progress has been made in the understanding of microresonators frequency combs based on dissipative Kerr solitons (DKSs). However, most of the studies have focused on the single-resonator level. Coupled resonator systems can open new ...

In this paper a three-dimensional (3D) Time Reversal MUltiple SIgnal Classification (TR-MUSIC) algorithm is proposed to localize lightning discharges. The performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated considering different scenarios and taking into a ...

Nonparametric inference for functional data over two-dimensional domains entails additional computational and statistical challenges, compared to the one-dimensional case. Separability of the covariance is commonly assumed to address these issues in the de ...

The use of model-based numerical simulations of wave propagation in rooms for engineering applications requires that acoustic conditions for multiple parameters are evaluated iteratively, which is computationally expensive. We present a reduced basis metho ...

Recently, several theories including the replica method made predictions for the generalization error of Kernel Ridge Regression. In some regimes, they predict that the method has a 'spectral bias': decomposing the true function f* on the eigenbasis of the ...

We present a general framework for portfolio risk management in discrete time, based on a replicating martingale. This martingale is learned from a finite sample in a supervised setting. Our method learns the features necessary for an effective low-dimensi ...

The cascade of electronic phases in CsV3Sb5 raises the prospect to disentangle their mutual interactions in a clean, strongly interacting kagome lattice. When the kagome planes are stacked into a crystal, its electronic dimensionality encodes how much of t ...

The field of computational topology has developed many powerful tools to describe the shape of data, offering an alternative point of view from classical statistics. This results in a variety of complex structures that are not always directly amenable for ...

Polymer plasma produced by laser ablation is investigated in a theoretical manner. In relation to the fact that the charge carrier circulation is assumed to take place on fractal curves, the so-called fractality type, electrical charge transport can be res ...

The optimal time for the controllability of linear hyperbolic systems in one dimensional space with one-side controls has been obtained recently for time-independent coefficients in our previous works. In this paper, we consider linear hyperbolic systems w ...

We investigate the regularity of the free boundary for the Signorini problem in Rn+1. It is known that regular points are (n−1)-dimensional and C∞. However, even for C∞ obstacles φ, the set of non-regular (or degenerate) points could be very large—e.g. wit ...

A computer-implemented method is proposed for creating a three-dimensional model of the environment. The method comprises the steps of planning (105) a trajectory for a moving system carrying an omnidirectional camera comprising a first image sensor facing ...

A methodology for designing cylindrical origami with different patterns and different cross-sectional shapes is presented. Planar and cylindrical origami with curved-crease patterns are designed and proved to be foldable and developable regardless of the t ...

Student-teacher relationships play an important role in both teacher and student experiences in higher education and have been found to be linked to learning, classroom management, and to student absenteeism. Although historically conceptualised in terms o ...

We continue the study of renewal contact processes initiated in a companion paper, where we showed that if the tail of the interarrival distribution mu is heavier than t(-alpha) for some alpha < 1 (plus auxiliary regularity conditions) then the critical va ...

In a channel flow with a sudden expansion, whether for three-dimensional (3-D) pipe and channel flows, or for two-dimensional (2-D) channel flow, it is known that increasing the Reynolds number beyond a critical value induces a symmetry breaking Pitchfork ...

Fibre bonds play an essential role in various properties of paper. Much research has focused on their strength, but the determination of the actual contact area also provides a challenge. Many of the research methods rely on optical tools, which are restri ...

In this paper we tackle the problem of finding the source of a gaseous leak with a robot in a three-dimensional (3-D) physical space. The proposed method extends the operational range of the probabilistic Infotaxis algorithm [1] into 3-D and makes multiple ...

Delay-And-Sum (DAS), the state-of-art in ultrasound imaging, is known to be sub-optimal, resulting in low resolution and contrast. Most proposed improvements involve ad-hoc re-weighting, or hit computational bottlenecks given real-time requirements. This p ...

Let K be an algebraically closed field of characteristic and let W be a finite-dimensional K-vector space of dimension greater than or equal to 5. In this paper, we give the structure of certain Weyl modules for in the case where , as well as the dimension ...
