Treatment of potassium salts of silole dianions with donor stabilised germanium dichlorides gave the anticipated silagermafulvenylidenes R2Si = Ge(Do) (R2Si = 1-silacyclopentadiendiyl, Do = N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)) only as transient intermediates in a ...

Pyrene is one of the most widely investigated aromatic hydrocarbons given to its unique optical and electronic properties. Hence, pyrene-based ligands have been attractive for the synthesis of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) in the last few years. In this ...

a-Amino ketones and 1,2-amino alcohols are important structural motifs in organic chemistry, that can be observed in natural products, pharmaceutically and bioactive compounds. For these reasons, they constitute privileged targets for the development of ne ...

The rising resistance and the severe side effects associated with classical anticancer drugs such as cisplatin or mercaptopurines has triggered the development of novel antitumourous agents based on transition metal (e.g. ruthenium, osmium, and gold) organ ...

The hexanuclear [Na12Fe6(tris-cyclo-salophen)(2)(THF)(14)], 1-THF, and the trinuclear [Na6Fe3(tris-cyclo-salophen)(py)(9)], 1-py, Fe(II) clusters can be easily assembled in one step from the ligand-based reduction of the [FeII(salophen)(THF)] complex. Thes ...

Electrocatalysts play an important part on the route towards environmental friendly energy sources. They support modern technologies like fuel cells to move further away from the utilization of fossil fuels and the resulting CO2 emission into our atmospher ...

We introduce the unification of dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) and linear-scaling density functional theory (DFT), as recently implemented in ONETEP, a linear-scaling DFT package, and TOSCAM, a DMFT toolbox. This code can account for strongly correlate ...

Photosynthetic water oxidation is catalyzed by the Mn4Ca cluster in photosystem II (PSII). The nearby redox-active tyrosine (Y-Z) serves as a direct electron acceptor of the Mn4Ca cluster and it forms a low-barrier H-bond (LBHB) with a neighboring histidin ...

The regulation of several processes inside and outside the cell depends on the action of a particular class of enzymes, called allosteric. In allosteric macromolecules, binding a ligand at one site affects the binding activity at a distal functional site, ...

The development of magic-angle spinning dynamic nuclear polarization (MAS DNP) has allowed atomic-level characterization of materials for which conventional solid-state NMR is impractical due to the lack of sensitivity. The rapid progress of MAS DNP has be ...

The fabrication of defined and high-quality metal nanostructures is an ongoing topic of research. Direct-write deposition of copper nanostructures is of great value for many fields of research and industrial applications. Focused electron beam induced depo ...

The activation of small molecule is a topic of high current interest. A variety of homogeneous end heterogeneous catalysts have been studied to be able to promote chemical transformation of industrial relevance under mild condition and therefore decrease t ...
