Optical frequency combs provide equidistant frequency markers and have applications that encompass fundamental Physics to Engineering. This tutorial will review the fundamental operational principles and latest development in the field of soliton microreso ...

Broadband single-soliton based frequency combs, with a detectable repetition rate of 28 GHz, are efficiently generated through pulse-driving of a chip-based Si3N4 microresonator. We observe an influence of the pulse-driving rate on the comb mode linewidth. ...

Recent developments in chip-based nonlinear photonics offer the tantalizing prospect of realizing many applications that can use optical frequency comb devices that have form factors smaller than 1 cm(3) and that require less than 1 W of power. A key featu ...

Optical-frequency synthesizers, which generate frequency-stable light from a single microwave-frequency reference, are revolutionizing ultrafast science and metrology, but their size, power requirement and cost need to be reduced if they are to be more wid ...

The model, that is usually called the Lugiato-Lefever equation (LLE), was introduced in 1987 with the aim of providing a paradigm for dissipative structure and pattern formation in nonlinear optics. This model, describing a driven, detuned and damped nonli ...

Dual-comb interferometry utilizes two optical frequency combs to map the optical field's spectrum to a radio-frequency signal without using moving parts, allowing improved speed and accuracy. However, the method is compounded by the complexity and demandin ...

The experimental study of the InPlaser diode stabilization by high-Q Si3N4 microresonator is presented. We demonstrate how this stabilized laser diode considered as a pump laser may be used for optical frequency comb generation in the same microresonator. ...

In this paper, we review the current state and discuss new developments in opto-optical modulation (OOM) of semiconductor elements for frequency comb self-referenced stabilization of ultrafast lasers. This method has been successfully used for carrier-enve ...

We experimentally investigate the effect of EDFA-induced pump ASE noise on cavity-soliton Kerr combs for 64-QAM transmission. We find that all comb optical carrier-to-noise ratios (OCNRs) are similar with a fixed pump OCNR and comb linewidths almost remain ...

Chip-scale frequency comb sources are key elements for a variety of applications, comprising massively parallel optical communications and high-precision optical metrology. In this talk, we give an overview on our recent progress in the area of integrated ...

We experimentally investigate the dependence of Kerr comb generation, comb linewidth, and coherent system performance on the pump linewidth in a microresonator. We find that the generation of the primary comb can have a larger tolerance to the pump linewid ...

Solitons are waveforms that preserve their shape while propagating, as a result of a balance of dispersion and nonlinearity(1,2). Soliton-based data transmission schemes were investigated in the 1980s and showed promise as a way of overcoming the limitatio ...
