Curcuminoids and their complexes continue to attract attention in medicinal chemistry, but little attention has been given to their metabolic derivatives. Here, the first examples of (arene)Ru(II) complexes with curcuminoid metabolites, tetrahydrocurcumin ...

The need for sustainable and reliable decontamination methods is driven by concerns regarding antibiotic resistance, as well as environmental and cost -efficiency challenges associated with traditional methods. Plasmaactivated water (PAW) holds significant ...

Structural and electronic factors are crucial to rationalizethedifferent N,O or N,N chelating coordination of pyrazolones containinga pyridine ring. The reactivity of proligand 3-phenyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-5-pyrazolone(HLpy,ph) with the (arene)Ru(II) fragment ...

Structure determination of materials is key to understanding their physical properties. While single-crystal X-ray diffraction is the gold standard for structures displaying long-range order, many materials of interest are polycrystalline and/or disordered ...

The presence of chemisorbed oxygen on the Cu(111) surface is known to strongly reduce the activation barrier for water dissociation as compared to bare Cu(111). Here, we present direct experimental evidence for the hydrogen abstraction mechanism responsibl ...

Solving native structures of such large molecules, like biomolecules, is often challenging, particularly due to the potentially infinite number of non-covalent interactions with water. In this thesis, we report the use of cold ion gas-phase action spectros ...

Here, we present new cryogenic infrared spectra of the (Imidazole) H-n(+) (n=1,2,3) ions. The data was obtained using helium tagging infrared predissociation spectroscopy. The new results were compared with the data obtained by Gerardi et al. (Chem. Phys. ...

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an interesting and promising approach to tackle a broad spectrum of cancer. With the combination of a photosensitizer, light and oxygen, PDT achieves a unique selectivity by the production of localized reactive oxygen species ...

The subject of the present work is discovery and in-depth characterization of a new class of functional materials. Tuning of the bond polarity and orbital occupation with a goal of establishing balance between localization and delocalization of electrons - ...

We have recently reported a series of half-sandwich ruthenium(ii) complexes with curcuminoid ligands showing excellent cytotoxic activities (particularly ionic derivatives containing PTA (PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane). In the present study, new m ...

The Schiff-bases [N,N'-Bis(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-benzene-1,4-diamine (L-1), N,N'-Bis(5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-benzene-1,4-diamine (L-2), N,N'-Bis(2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzylidene)-benzene-1,4-diamine (L-3), and N,N'-Bis(2-hydroxynaphthylidene)-benzene- ...

Methylidyne, CH(ads), adsorbed on a Pt(211) surface and its interaction with chemisorbed hydrogen atoms was studied by reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS). Methylidyne was formed on Pt(211) by methane dissociation from a molecular beam foll ...

The chemistry of divalent lanthanides has generated increasing interest in the past years due to their redox properties and unique reaction pathways. Notably, molecular complexes of low-valent lanthanides have been shown to be suitable one-electron reducta ...

Two pyrazole-based ligands bearing a pyridine moiety, 3-methyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-5-pyrazolone (HLpy), and 3methyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-4-trifluoroacetyl-5-pyrazolone (HQpy,CF3), were prepared and fully characterized in the solid-state and the tautomerism of bot ...

Two-dimensional Fourier transform spectroscopy is a promising technique to study ultrafast molecular dynamics. Similar to transient absorption spectroscopy, a more complete picture of the dynamics requires broadband laser pulses to observe transient change ...

Non-covalent interactions are ubiquitous in nature. The diversity and functionality of these interactions are employed by nature as a universal tool for building the molecular mechanism of life. Although weak, these interactions play a key role in both for ...

Understanding the real aging of Diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC) is key to predict their useful lifetime. This work comprises a detailed study of a commercial DOC in its unused state and after use in vehicle for 288,000 km. The activity of the samples was ...

Novel two-dimensional metamaterials, known as metasurfaces, have emerged as a breakthrough platform for controlling electromagnetic wave properties at the nanoscale. These metasurfaces consist of subwavelength nanoantennas or so-called meta-atoms, which ca ...

Molecular spectroscopy is an essential experimental technique in both fundamental physical sciences and applied research. For example, electronic spectroscopy, in which light induces a change in the electronic state of a molecule, is a powerful tool for st ...

Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is an atomic-level method to determine the chemical structure, 3D structure and dynamics of solids and semi-solids. This Primer summarizes the basic principles of NMR spectroscopy as applied to the ...
