The invention relates to substituted cyclodextrin (CD) compounds having C9 to C25 optionally substituted alkyl-based linker groups, which irreversibly inhibit viruses and are useful in the treatment of viral infections. While the compounds of the invention ...

The arms race between viruses and their hosts shaped the evolutionary history and the genome composition of both parties. Restriction factors are the first-line antiviral effectors encoded by the host genomes and are often conserved through evolution to pr ...

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) kits have been used as common diagnosing tools during the outbreak of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic, with daily worldwide usage in the millions. It is well known that at the beginn ...

Viruses rely on the reprogramming of cellular processes to enable efficient viral replication; this often requires subcompartmentalization within the host cell. Liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) has emerged as a fundamental principle to organize and su ...

Heparin has been known to be a broad-spectrum inhibitor of viral infection for almost 70 years, and it has been used as a medication for almost 90 years due to its anticoagulant effect. This nontoxic biocompatible polymer efficiently binds to many types of ...

Multiple enveloped RNA viruses of the family Paramyxoviridae and Pneumoviridae, like measles virus (MeV), Nipah virus (NiV), canine distemper virus (CDV), or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), are of high clinical relevance. Each year a huge number of live ...

The present invention relates 1-deoxysphingolipids, as well as pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, for use in the prevention and/or treatment of intoxication or viral infections, in particular 1-deoxyceramide or a 1-deoxysphingoid base prodrug there ...

Viral infections are among the main causes of death worldwide, and we lack antivirals for the majority of viruses. Heparin-like sulfated or sulfonated compounds have been known for decades for their ability to prevent infection by heparan sulfate proteogly ...

The invention relates to virucidal metallic nanoparticles, virucidal compositions comprising thereof and uses thereof in treatment and/or prevention of viral infections, for sterilizations and for disinfections. ...

The invention relates to virucidal compounds, virucidal compositions comprising thereof and uses thereof in treatment of viral infections, for sterilizations and for disinfections. ...

Background: Kaposi's sarcoma, the most common AIDS-related cancer, represents a major public concern in resource-limited countries. Single nucleotide polymorphisms within the Interferon lambda 3/4 region (IFNL3/4) determine the expression, function of IFNL ...

BACKGROUND: Helminth parasites have been reported to have beneficial immunomodulatory effects in patients with allergic and autoimmune conditions and detrimental consequences in patients with tuberculosis and some viral infections. Their role in coinfectio ...

Lassa virus (LASV) causes severe hemorrhagic fever with high mortality, yet no vaccine currently exists. Antibodies targeting viral attachment proteins are crucial for protection against many viral infections. However, the envelope glycoprotein (GP) 1 of L ...

The DNA sensor, cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS), is essential for the detection of viral infection. In a recent issue of Science, two studies, Bridgeman et al. (2015) and Gentili et al. (2015), report a novel mechanism for propagating an antiviral signal be ...

(Carbo) nucleoside derivatives constitute an important class of pharmaceuticals, yet there are only few convergent methods to access new analogues. Here, we report the first synthesis of thymine-, uracil-, and 5-fluorouracil-substituted diester donor-accep ...

An essential step during the intracellular life cycle of many positive-strand RNA viruses is the rearrangement of host cell membranes to generate membrane-bound replication platforms. For example, Nidovirales and Flaviviridae subvert the membrane of the en ...

Detection of defective members of large populations has been widely studied in the statistics community under the name ``group testing'', a problem which dates back to World War~II when it was suggested for syphilis screening. There the main interest is to ...

The replication of Moloney murine leukaemia virus relies on the formation of a stable homodimeric 'kissing complex' of a GACG tetraloop interacting through only two C center dot G base pairs flanked of 5'-adjacent Unpaired adenosines A9. Previous NMR inves ...

Nucleic acid sequence analogues, in particular tRNA analogues comprising in the place of a 3'-terminal adenosine a 3'-terminal 2'-deoxy-2'-thioadenosine are able to react site-specifically with weakly activated amino acid derivatives (e.g. phenylthioesters ...

During a previous, exploratory project in our group, it was observed that duplexes formed by oligonucleotides modified with polar 2'-O-substituents were more tolerant towards the addition of 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME) than RNA and DNA duplexes [1]. Inspired ...
