This paper presents a device matching study of a commercial 40-nm bulk CMOS technology operated at cryogenic temperatures. Transistor pairs and linear arrays, optimized for device matching, were characterized over the temperature range from 300 K down to 4 ...

We report high-power second-harmonic generation of 760 nm laser light from optically-pumped vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser based on quantum dot active medium. The laser generates 1.2 W in fundamental transverse mode with fixed linear polar ...

Deeply-scaled three-dimensional (3D) Multi-Processor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs) enable high performance and massive communication bandwidth for next-generation computing. However, as process nodes shrink, temperature-dependent leakage dramatically increases, ...

Optical frequency combs have the potential to become key building blocks of wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) communication systems. The strictly equidistant narrow-band spectral lines of a frequency comb can serve either as carriers for parallel WDM ...

A novel fiber-interface directional waveguide coupler was inscribed on the surface of a coreless fiber by femtosecond laser, and was successfully applied to highly sensitive refractive index (RI) measurements. The primary arm was first inscribed to couple ...

We experimentally demonstrate Kramers-Kronig detection of four 20 Gbaud 16-quadrature-amplitude-modulated (QAM) channels after 50 km fiber transmission using two soliton Kerr combs as signal sources and local oscillators. The estimated carrier phase at the ...

A light pulse source (100), being adapted for generating repetitive optical pulses (1), comprises a continuous wave cw laser device (10) being arranged for providing cw laser light (2), an optical waveguide (20) being optically coupled with the cw laser de ...

Cryogenic device models are essential for the reliable design of the cryo-CMOS electronic interface necessary to build future large-scale quantum computers. This paper reports the characterization of the drain-current mismatch of NMOS and PMOS devices fabr ...

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner technology requires the use of a large number of PET detector modules that work in a parallel and synchronous manner. Moreover, system modularity is a desirable feature, that enables technology reutilization for d ...

Microcombs provide a path to broad-bandwidth integrated frequency combs with low power consumption, which are compatible with wafer-scale fabrication. Yet, electrically-driven, photonic chip-based microcombs are inhibited by the required high threshold pow ...

Resonant waveguide gratings (RWGs), also known as guided mode resonant (GMR) gratings or waveguide-mode resonant gratings, are dielectric structures where these resonant diffractive elements benefit from lateral leaky guided modes and can operate from UV t ...

We perform optical frequency division of an ultra-stable laser by using a crystalline-based Kerr frequency comb as a transfer oscillator. We demonstrate absolute phase noise levels of -110 dBc/Hz at 200-Hz offset from a 14 GHz carrier. (C) 2019 The Author( ...
