The efficiency and peculiarities of processes such as surface adsorption or electron-to-photon energy conversion in organic and inorganic structures are determined by the dynamics at the scale of individual molecules, atoms and charges. The timescales of s ...

Microorganisms catalyze many of the redox transformations driving the iron cycle in the geosphere. For instance, iron cycling includes the reduction of solid-phase and soluble ferric iron (Fe(III)) to ferrous iron (Fe(II)). However, in order to reduce soli ...

Barely trapped and passing electrons have been recently predicted to strongly enhance the damping rate of Geodesic Acoustic Modes (GAMs) in tokamak plasmas, while keeping their real frequency almost unchanged as compared to the case with adiabatic electron ...

2D semiconducting materials have become the central component of various nanoelectronic devices and sensors. For sensors operating in liquid, it is crucial to efficiently block the electron transfer that occurs between the electrodes contacting the 2D mate ...

The adsorption of molecules on surfaces affects the surface dipole and thus changes in the work function may be expected. The effect in change of work function is particularly strong if charge between substrate and adsorbate is involved. Here we report the ...

The concept of efficient electrolysis by linking photoelectrochemical biphasic H2 evolution and water oxidation processes in the cathodic and anodic compartments of an H-cell, respectively, is introduced. Overpotentials at the cathode and anode are minimis ...

The depletion of carbon-based fossil fuels and the rise in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration will force an inevitable change in the future global energy landscape. CO2 reduction presents the advantages of decreasing its atmospheric concentration and ...

In tokamak fusion plasmas, micro-turbulence transport is known to be the cause of large losses of heat and particles. The present work deals with the study of electrostatic micro-turbulence transport driven by instabilities of essentially two types: the io ...

This manuscript summarizes the different technological developments and scientific activities in the field of ultrafast laser and electron physics which I have carried out as part of my PhD thesis. The topics addressed in my thesis range from the developme ...
