Let K be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, and let G be a connected reductive algebraic group over K. We address the problem of classifying triples (G, H, V ), where H is a proper connected subgroup of G, and V is a finitedimensional ir ...

We determine the dimensions of Ext -groups between simple modules and dual generalized Verma modules in singular blocks of parabolic versions of category O for complex semisimple Lie algebras and affine Kac-Moody algebras. ...

Many problems in robotics are fundamentally problems of geometry, which have led to an increased research effort in geometric methods for robotics in recent years. The results were algorithms using the various frameworks of screw theory, Lie algebra, and d ...

Chemical gas dispersion can represent a severe threat to human and animal lives, as well as to the environment. Constructing a map of the distribution of gas in a fast and reliable manner is critical to ensure accurate monitoring of at-risk facilities and ...

The immobilization of molecular catalysts imposes spatial constraints on their active site. We reveal that in bifunctional catalysis such constraints can also be utilized as an appealing handle to boost intrinsic activity through judicious control of the a ...

We classify the spherical birational sheets in a complex simple simply-connected algebraic group. We use the classification to show that, when G is a connected reductive complex algebraic group with simply-connected derived subgroup, two conjugacy classes ...

The global linear stability of a water drop on hot nonwetting surfaces is studied. The droplet is assumed to have a static shape and the surface tension gradient is neglected. First, the nonlinear steady Boussinesq equation is solved to obtain the axisymme ...

Let u(q)(g) be the small quantum group associated with a complex semisimple Lie algebra g and a primitive root of unity q, satisfying certain restrictions. We establish the equivalence between three different actions of g on the center of u(q)(g) and on th ...

This study presents a general approach to the topology design of tensegrities with rigid bodies. To the best of the authors' knowledge, all existing topology design methods of tensegrities focus on tensegrities that only consist of members carrying axial f ...

We consider two problems regarding arithmetic progressions in symmetric sets in the finite field (product space) model. ...

Humans exhibit outstanding learning and adaptation capabilities while performing various types of manipulation tasks. When learning new skills, humans are able to extract important information by observing examples of a task and efficiently refine a priori ...

In this paper, we consider unilateral contact problem without friction between a rigid body and deformable one in the framework of isogeometric analysis. We present the theoretical analysis of the mixed problem. For the displacement, we use the pushforward ...

In this paper, we present the fabrication of on-chip piezoelectric acoustic actuation for 2D materials. Acoustic actuation is achieved at device level through patterning of aluminum nitride (AlN) thin film at wafer scale. Two piezoelectric stacks consistin ...

Exact nonadiabatic quantum evolution preserves many geometric properties of the molecular Hilbert space. In the first paper of this series ["Paper I," S. Choi and J. Vaníček, J. Chem. Phys. 150, 204112 (2019)], we presented numerical integrators of arbitra ...

We develop an elementary algebraic method to compute the center of the principal block of a small quantum group associated with a complex semisimple Lie algebra at a root of unity. The cases of sl(3) and sl(4) are computed explicitly. This allows us to for ...

Extensive amenability is a property of group actions which has recently been used as a tool to prove amenability of groups. We study this property and prove that it is preserved under a very general construction of semidirect products. As an application, w ...

While small scale ORCs are currently dominated by volumetric expanders, the use of turbomachines is reconsidered due to their high efficiency and power density. Yet, suitable performance maps, which ensure an accurate starting point for the turbine design, ...

We consider a natural subclass of harmonic maps from a surface into G/T, namely cyclic primitive maps. Here G is any simple real Lie group (not necessarily compact), T is a Cartan subgroup and both are chosen so that there is a Coxeter automorphism on G(C) ...

Kinematic couplings are used when two rigid bodies need to be repeatedly and accurately positioned with respect to each other. They allow for sub-micron positioning repeatability by suppressing play and reducing strains in the bodies. Typical applications ...

Let G be a connected reductive algebraic group over an algebraically closed field k,gamma is an element of g( k(( epsilon ))) a semisimple regular element, we introduce a fundamental domain F gamma for the affine Springer fibers X gamma. We show that the p ...
