An important advantage of optical signal processing is the possibility of performing various operations in parallel. Among the techniques proposed for parallel optical signal processing, frequency division multiplexing (FDM) is a well-known approach, in wh ...

This paper describes an all-digital backscatter modulation approach leveraging delta-sigma modulation (DSM) to improve the in-channel spectral characteristics of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) backscatter communication. We demonstrate thr ...

Under the trends of multifunctionality, tunability, and compactness in modern wave -based signal processors, in this paper, we propose a polarization-multiplexed graphene-based metasurface to realize distinct mathematical operators on the parallel time-dom ...

Over-the-air computation (AirComp) is a disruptive technique for fast wireless data aggregation in Internet of Things (IoT) networks via exploiting the waveform superposition property of multiple-access channels. However, the performance of AirComp is bott ...

LoRaWAN is a low-power wireless technology that provides long-range connectivity to battery-powered Internet of Things (IoT) devices. To minimize the energy consumption of the IoT nodes, LoRaWAN networks use for the uplink a pure non-slotted ALOHA multiple ...

In this paper, we explore the use of channel state information (CSI) from a WiFi system to estimate the breathing rate of a person in a room. In order to extract WiFi CSI components that are sensitive to breathing, we propose to consider the delay domain c ...

The exponential growth in computing power and multimedia services has caused a tremendous increase in data traffic in recent years. This increase in data traffic brings a strong demand for data bandwidth of electrical input/output (I/O) links and pushes th ...

Centralized and cloud computing-based network architectures are the promising tracks of future communication systems where a large scale compute power can be virtualized for various algorithms. These architectures rely on high-performance communication lin ...

Sampling is classically performed by recording the amplitude of the input at given time instants; however, sampling and reconstructing a signal using multiple devices in parallel becomes a more difficult problem to solve when the devices have an unknown sh ...

The feedback sum-rate capacity is established for the symmetric

-user Gaussian multiple-access channel (GMAC). The main contribution is a converse bound that combines the dependence-balance argument of Hekstra and Willems (1989) with a variant of the f ...

A tunable and reconfigurable optical aggregation system is experimentally demonstrated. Optical Nyquist pulses are generated on multiple channels using a microresonator-based Kerr optical frequency comb and insertion of uniform lines by an intensity modula ...

We experimentally demonstrate Kramers-Kronig detection of four 20 Gbaud 16-quadrature-amplitude-modulated (QAM) channels after 50 km fiber transmission using two soliton Kerr combs as signal sources and local oscillators. The estimated carrier phase at the ...

In this letter, we present a multi-channel in-plane-gate field effect transistor (MC-IPGFET). In the proposed device, multiple vertically stacked two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) are simultaneously controlled by lateral in-plane gates formed with the ...

Learning-based algorithms have gained great popularity in communications since they often outperform even carefully engineered solutions by learning from training samples. In this paper, we show that the selection of appropriate training examples can be im ...

In this paper we study a multi-channel network, each station of which is equipped with a network interface that has a receiver buffer of multiple packets. In this way, each station is able to receive multiple packets per time instant. We adopt a synchronou ...

We present a practical strategy that aims to attain rate points on the dominant face of the multiple access channel capacity using a standard low complexity decoder. This technique is built upon recent theoretical developments of Zhu and Gastpar on compute ...

The joint design of input constellation and low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes to approach the symmetric capacity of the two-user Gaussian multiple access channel is studied. More specifically, multilevel coding is employed at each user to construct a h ...

Base station (BS) architectures for massive multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless systems are equipped with hundreds of antennas to serve tens of users on the same time-frequency channel. The immense number of BS antennas incurs hi ...

Computation codes in network information theory are designed for scenarios where the decoder is not interested in recovering the information sources themselves, but only a function thereof. Körner and Marton showed for distributed source coding (DSC) that ...

We experimentally demonstrate KK detection of four 20-Gbaud 16-QAM channels after 50-km transmission using two soliton Kerr combs at transmitter and receiver. The frequency comb coherence enables a shared phase noise estimation among multiple channels. (C) ...
