Scintillating fibre detectors combine sub-mm resolution particle tracking, precise measurements of the particle stopping power and sub-ns time resolution. Typically, fibres are read out with silicon photomultipliers (SiPM). Hence, if fibres with a few hund ...

IceCube Collaboration has previously reported evidence for a neutrino signal from a Seyfert galaxy NGC 1068. This may suggest that all Seyfert galaxies emit neutrinos. To test this hypothesis, we identify the best candidate neutrino sources among nearby Se ...

Particle accelerators are the drivers for large-scale research infrastructures for particle physics but also for many branches of condensed matter research. The types of accelerator-driven research infrastructures include particle colliders, neutron, muon ...

I describe the sterile neutrino dark matter candidate and discuss how it may fit into the overall picture of physics beyond the Standard Model. ...

In this thesis, we give new protocols that offer a quantum advantage for problems in ML, Physics, and Finance. Quantum mechanics gives predictions that are inconsistent with local realism. The experiment proving this fact (Bell, 1964) gives a quantum proto ...

We present a nonperturbative recipe for directly computing the S-matrix in strongly-coupled QFTs. The method makes use of spectral data obtained in a Hamiltonian framework and can be applied to a wide range of theories, including potentially QCD. We demons ...

We show that the IceCube observation of the Galactic neutrino-flux component confirms the hint of detection of neutrinos from the Galactic ridge (the inner part of the Milky Way disk within the Galactic longitude IlI < 30(degrees)), previously reported by ...

Interactions of cosmic ray protons, atomic nuclei, and electrons in the interstellar medium in the inner part of the Milky Way produce γ-ray flux from the Galactic Ridge. If the γ-ray emission is dominated by proton and nuclei interactions, a neutrino flux ...

This thesis presents a search for a beyond the Standard Model (SM) heavy neutral lepton (HNL), which does not interact via any of the SM interactions. This hypothetical particle has been proposed by multiple theories as an extension to the SM, and it could ...

The first search exploiting the vector boson fusion process to probe heavy Majorana neutrinos and the Weinberg operator at the LHC is presented. The search is performed in the same-sign dimuon final state using a proton-proton collision dataset recorded at ...

Following the conceptual design, the engineering design of the dc magnet and cable-in-conduit conductor (CICC) for the Super-X test facility has been done in 2021. Totally three types of conductors with different structures were designed for the three pair ...

A search for high-mass dimuon resonance production in association with one or more b quark jets is presented. The study uses proton-proton collision data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb(-1) at ...

The High Energy cosmic-Radiation Detection facility (HERD) is a calorimetric experiment planned to be launched in 2027. It will be operational for at least 10 years on board the China Space Station. With HERD we will measure the energy flux of cosmic proto ...

New sets of parameter tunes for two of the colour reconnection models, quantum chromodynamics-inspired and gluon-move, implemented in the PYTHIA 8 event generator, are obtained based on the default CMS PYTHIA 8 underlying-event tune, CP5. Measurements sens ...

Context. The infrared-radio correlation (IRRC) of star-forming galaxies can be used to estimate their star formation rate (SFR) based on the radio continuum luminosity at MHz-GHz frequencies. For its practical application in future deep radio surveys, it i ...

In this doctoral thesis, a promising technique has been used for the measurement of non-thermal electrons in TCV. The technique employs a Vertical viewing ECE to more easily discriminate the radiation according to the energy of the electrons. Successful ...

Detecting gravitationally lensed supernovae is among the biggest challenges in astronomy. It involves a combination of two very rare phenomena: catching the transient signal of a stellar explosion in a distant galaxy and observing it through a nearly perfe ...

We report on the discovery of two low-luminosity, broad-line active galactic nuclei (AGNs) at z > 5 identified using JWST NIRSpec spectroscopy from the Cosmic Evolution Early Release Science (CEERS) survey. We detect broad Ha emission in the spectra of bot ...

In the vast expanse of the Universe and on our planet, nuclei exist in a state of excitement. These excited nuclear states (isomers) can persist for varying periods, from fractions of a second to billions of years and beyond, before decaying to their groun ...

SND@LHC is an approved experiment equipped to detect scatterings of neutrinos produced in the far-forward direction at the LHC, and aimed to measure their properties. In addition, the detector has a potential to search for new feebly interacting particles ...
