This paper presents STEEL-3dPointClouds, a dataset of deformed steel beam-columns obtained using high-fidelity physics-based numerical simulations. These simulations trace the inelastic deformations of hot-rolled wide-flange steel beam-columns under differ ...

We examine a method for solving an infinite-dimensional tensor eigenvalue problem (Formula presented.), where the infinite-dimensional symmetric matrix (Formula presented.) exhibits a translational invariant structure. We provide a formulation of this type ...

For systems under holonomic constraints, H can be derived from the principle of least action (PLA) formulated in terms of a suitable set of generalized coordinates. In molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, where the system temperature often prescribes a non ...

We study the problem of recovering piecewise-polynomial periodic functions from their low-frequency information. This means that we only have access to possibly corrupted versions of the Fourier samples of the ground truth up to a maximum cutoff frequency ...

The development of mechanical models relating the state of strains and the resistance of reinforced concrete structures has become a trend in the last decades. These types of models are referred to as strain-based approaches. Since strain-based approaches ...

Non-Newtonian fluids are present in most manufacturing industry processes. Computa-tional models used to describe the rheological behavior of such materials can be costly due to the non-linear behavior of the viscosity. This work presents a parametrized pr ...

This paper intends to provide quantitative seismic response characteristics of steel moment resisting frames (MRFs) with inelastic beam-to-column panel zone joints. Two modeling approaches are proposed for this purpose along with a methodology to consider ...

Penalty methods have proven to be particularly effective for achieving the required C-1-continuity in the context of multi patch isogeometric Kirchhoff-Love shells. Due to their conceptual simplicity, these algorithms are readily applicable to the displace ...

When an object is accelerated in a fluid, a primary vortex is formed through the roll-up of a shear layer. This primary vortex does not grow indefinitely and will reach a limiting size and strength. Additional vorticity beyond the critical limit will end u ...

Formation of a microlayer in nucleate boiling results in substantial changes to the heat-transfer dynamics of the process, and establishing a criterion to distinguish between the microlayer and contact-line regimes encountered is necessary to obtain a quan ...

With a continuously growing share of non-dispatchable renewable energy sources in the power mix, flexibility in hydropower provision is becoming fundamental. The major role played by hydropower in frequency regulation in the last years has underlined the p ...
