We present an extended validation of semi-analytical, semi-empirical covariance matrices for the two-point correlation function (2PCF) on simulated catalogs representative of luminous red galaxies (LRGs) data collected during the initial 2 months of operat ...

We consider distributed optimization over several devices, each sending incremental model updates to a central server. This setting is considered, for instance, in federated learning. Various schemes have been designed to compress the model updates in orde ...

Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) will construct a large and precise three-dimensional map of our Universe. The survey effective volume reaches similar to 20 h(-3) Gpc(3). It is a great challenge to prepare high-resolution simulations with a much ...

Aims. We investigate the contribution of shot-noise and sample variance to uncertainties in the cosmological parameter constraints inferred from cluster number counts, in the context of the Euclid survey. ...

Differentiable rendering has recently opened the door to a number of challenging inverse problems involving photorealistic images, such as computational material design and scattering-aware reconstruction of geometry and materials from photographs. Differe ...

investigate the error term of the asymptotic formula for the number of squarefree integers up to some bound, and lying in some arithmetic progression a (mod q). In particular, we prove an upper bound for its variance as a varies over (Z/qZ)(x) which consid ...

The paper describes a local under-frequency load shedding and load restoration scheme, that exploits frequency and Rate-of-Change-of-Frequency (ROCOF) measurements produced by Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) as detectors of a large contingency. The paper f ...

Independent Component Analysis (ICA) has proven to be an effective data driven method for analyzing EEG data, separating signals from temporally and functionally independent brain and non-brain source processes and thereby increasing their definition. Dime ...

This paper characterizes the effective beams, the effective beam window functions and the associated errors for the Planck High Frequency Instrument (HFI) detectors. The effective beam is the angular response including the effect of the optics, detectors, ...

Using a suite of detailed numerical simulations, we estimate the level of anisotropy generated by the time evolution along the light cone of the 21 cm signal from the epoch of reionization. Our simulations include the physics necessary to model the signal ...

This article presents a new estimation method for the parameters of a time series model. We consider here composite Gaussian processes that are the sum of independent Gaussian processes which, in turn, explain an important aspect of the time series, as is ...

It has been recently shown that a macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) linking space-mean network flow, density and speed exists in the urban transportation networks under some conditions. An MFD is further well defined if the network is homogeneous with ...

Transmission electron microscopy and photoluminescence investigations have been carried out on a series of quantum wells grown by molecular beam epitaxy and metal organic vapour phase epitaxy. In both cases, the emission wavelength and the peak width agree ...

Adaptive tracking of sinusoidal signal components with time-varying amplitudes and frequencies presents a great interest in many engineering applications. In many cases, the frequency components of interest are present in more than one signal. So we propos ...

For the development, design and licensing of a nuclear power plant (NPP), a sound safety analysis is necessary to study the diverse physical phenomena involved in the system behaviour under a wide range of operational and transient conditions. Such studies ...
