This paper presents the main results of COST Action PEARL PV, aiming at finding connections between the observed performance of monitored PV systems and degradation causes and failure modes according to literature with a focus on the most dominant technolo ...

Building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) are dual purpose, providing both energy and building functions. Aesthetics play a crucial role in the BIPV market, with increasing demand for uniformly colored modules for building skins. Achieving this requires hid ...

Ultrathin, solution-processed emerging solar cells with high power-per-weight (PPW) outputs demonstrate unique potential for applications where low weight, high power output, and flexibility are indispensable. The following perspective explores the literat ...

Hydrogen is considered as the "holy grail" for the energy community. One of the most promising strategies to produce hydrogen is to split water using renewable energy such as solar radiation. The abundance of water and solar energy enables the potential of ...

The photovoltaics industry is adopting bifacial systems which offer improved energy harvesting compared to monofacial ones. This stems from the collection of light reflected by the surroundings on the rear side of the modules, leading to system-level gains ...

Research is nowadays usually directed by its potentiality to birth technological applications of relevance in the present environmento-socio-economical context, which can be seen as fair. This can however appear frustrating to us scientists, as it sometime ...

We conducted a long-term (>6500 h) in-situ PV module humidity monitoring experiment, where digital humidity sensors encapsulated in different encapsulants (EVA, TPO, POE and ionomer) were exposed to different humidity conditions in a climatic chamber. From ...
