We present an overview on the growth and the optical properties of GaN quantum dots (QDs) embedded in planar AlN grown on the following three different types of substrates: single AlN crystal, AlN on sapphire, and AIN on Si(111). QD density control over th ...

Integrated photonics is increasing in importance for compact, robust, and scalable enabling quantum technologies. This is particularly interesting for developing quantum communication networks, where resources need to be deployed in the field. We exploit p ...

High symmetry epitaxial quantum dots (QDs) with three or more symmetry planes provide a very promising route for the generation of entangled photons for quantum information applications. The great challenge to fabricate nanoscopic high symmetry QDs is furt ...

Far field pattern generation is investigated for thick sinusoidal phase grating under a Gaussian beam illumination to obtain a high field of view. We compare the Fraunhofer approximation with the High-NA propagator and demonstrate that the Fraunhofer appro ...

We study a driven-dissipative array of coupled nonlinear optical resonators by numerically solving the von Neumann equation for the density matrix. We demonstrate that quantum correlated states of many photons can also be generated in the limit where the n ...

Temporal photon correlation measurement, instrumental to probing the quantum properties of light, typically requires multiple single photon detectors. Progress in single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array technology highlights their potential as high-perf ...

We propose the use of weakly nonlinear passive materials for prospective applications in integrated quantum photonics. It is shown that strong enhancement of native optical nonlinearities by electromagnetic field confinement in photonic crystal resonators ...

The integration of new materials mediating light-matter interaction in nanoscale devices is a persistent goal in nanophotonics. One of these materials is Gallium phosphide, which offers an attractive combination of a high refractive index (n=3.05 at a wave ...

The ability to control and manipulate light is a fundamental aspect that is at the very core of the development of integrated photonic circuits. It is desirable to achieve such control down to a scale that is comparable to or smaller than the wavelength of ...

Single photon emitters often rely on a strong nonlinearity to make the behavior of a quantum mode susceptible to a change in the number of quanta between one and two. In most systems, the strength of nonlinearity is weak, such that changes at the single qu ...

Confocal microscopes use photomultiplier tubes and hybrid detectors due to their large dynamic range, which typically exceeds the one of single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs). The latter, due to their photon counting operation, are usually limited to an o ...

The progress in nanofabrication has made possible the realization of optic nanodevices able to handle single photons and to exploit the quantum nature of single-photon states. In particular, quantum cryptography (or more precisely quantum key distribution, ...

Optical second harmonic generation (SHG) from nanostructured graphene has been studied in the framework of classical electromagnetism using a surface integral equation method. Single disks and dimers are considered, demonstrating that the nonlinear convers ...

Organic semiconductors are promising materials for future electronic and electroluminescence applications. A detailed understanding of organic layers and nano-sized crystals down to single molecules can address fundamental questions of contacting organic s ...

The observation of micrometer size spin relaxation makes graphene a promising material for applications in spintronics requiring long-distance spin communication. However, spin dependent scatterings at the contact/graphene interfaces affect the spin inject ...
