Random binning features, introduced in the seminal paper of Rahimi and Recht '07, are an efficient method for approximating a kernel matrix using locality sensitive hashing. Random binning features provide a very simple and efficient way to approximate the ...

We study in this thesis the asymptotic behavior of optimal paths on a random graph model, the configuration model, for which we assign continuous random positive weights on its edges. We start by describing the asymptotic behavior of the diameter and the f ...

We examine the almost-sure asymptotics of the solution to the stochastic heat equation driven by a Levy space-time white noise. When a spatial point is fixed and time tends to infinity, we show that the solution develops unusually high peaks over short tim ...

We study the phenomenon of intransitivity in models of dice and voting. First, we follow a recent thread of research for n-sided dice with pairwise ordering induced by the probability, relative to 1/2, that a throw from one die is higher than the other. We ...

We provide an algorithm to generate trajectories of sparse stochastic processes that are solutions of linear ordinary differential equations driven by Levy white noises. A recent paper showed that these processes are limits in law of generalized compound-P ...

We consider the robust linear regression problem in the online setting where we have access to the data in a streaming manner, one data point after the other. More specifically, for a true parameter , we consider the corrupted Gaussian linear model $ y=\la ...

In this paper, we study the local times of vector-valued Gaussian fields that are 'diagonally operator-selfsimilar' and whose increments are stationary. Denoting the local time of such a Gaussian field around the spatial origin and over the temporal unit h ...

The distribution of spatially aggregated data from a stochastic process may exhibit tail behaviour different from that of its marginal distributions. For a large class of aggregating functionals we introduce the -extremal coefficient, which quantifies this ...

Consider a random process s that is a solution of the stochastic differential equation Ls = w with L a homogeneous operator and w a multidimensional Levy white noise. In this paper, we study the asymptotic effect of zooming in or zooming out of the process ...

Governments choose to issue risky or riskless debt depending on the nature of the stochastic process of output. We use Brownian motion and Poisson shocks a modeling method in the literature on corporate default known as Levy processes to approximate a deco ...

We consider the problem of estimating the slope function in a functional regression with a scalar response and a functional covariate. This central problem of functional data analysis is well known to be ill-posed, thus requiring a regularised estimation p ...

We consider sample path properties of the solution to the stochastic heat equation, in Rd or bounded domains of Rd, driven by a Levy space-time white noise. When viewed as a stochastic process in time with values in an infinite-dimensional space, the solut ...
