Nowadays, gold compounds occupy a relevant position constituting a promising class of experimental anticancer metallodrugs. Several research efforts have been devoted to the investigations of the pharmacological properties of gold(I) complexes bearing phos ...

Mortars prepared with a CEM I and a CEM III/B binder were investigated in different magnesium sulfate solutions. The main deterioration mechanism for the CEM I was expansion, while surface erosion was dominant for CEM III/B. The presence of sodium, potassi ...

The mechanisms behind the expansion of samples immersed in solutions containing sulfate ions have been controversial. Expansion is believed to originate in the formation of ettringite, but it is not possible to find any direct correlation between these two ...

Background: The quantification of total (free + sulfated) metanephrines in urine is recommended to diagnose pheochromocytoma. Urinary metanephrines include metanephrine itself, normetanephrine and methoxytyramine, mainly in the form of sulfate conjugates ( ...

Gold and rhodium nanoparticles stabilized by a cationic polymer can be readily modified by anion exchange to afford nanoparticles that may be dispersed in a wide range of organic solvents and ionic liquids. The catalytic activity of the Rh nanoparticle dis ...

Two dinuclear oxo-bridged organogold(III) compounds, namely [(N,N,C)(2)Au-2(mu-O)]PF6 (with N,N,CH = 6-(1-methylbenzyl)-2,2'-bipyridine, Au(2)O1; or 6-(1,1-dimethylbenzyl)-2,2'-bipyridine, Au(2)O2), were previously prepared and characterised. Their so ...

The thiolate ligand in the five-coordinate model complex 1 of [Fe]-hydrogenase is preferentially and reversibly protonated, even in the presence of an acyl ligand. The results suggest that the Cys176 thiolate ligand in [Fe]-hydrogenase can serve as the int ...

Square planar gold(iii) complexes that contain functionalised bipyridine ligands of general formula [Au(NN)Cl2][PF6] [where NN = 2,2'-bipyridine, 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine, 4,4'-dimethoxy-2,2'-bipyridine and 4,4'-diamino-2,2'-bipyridine] have been prep ...

A surface-based approach is presented to study the interactions of A beta 12-28-Cys assembled on gold surfaces with Congo red (CR) and a beta-sheet breaker (BSB) peptide. The various aspects of the peptide film have been examined using different electroche ...
