In the framework of EU design activities for dimensioning the future fusion DEMOnstration reactor (DEMO), extensive analyses were conducted in EUROfusion context, aiming at ultimately defining the design of the DEMO magnets system. In this objective CEA (C ...

The self-consistent evaluation of Hubbard parameters using linear-response theory is crucial for quantitatively predictive calculations based on Hubbard-corrected density-functional theory. Here, we extend a recently introduced approach based on density-fu ...

In this study, the high-cycle fatigue behavior of bridge connections subjected to distortion-induced loadings (generating multiaxial stresses) and strengthened with prestressed elements were experimentally investigated. Thereafter, appropriate critical pla ...

This paper introduces a new fatigue life prediction methodology for viscoelastic materials in the tension-tension fatigue loading region. The model was established based on the total amount of energy dissipated during fatigue loading, and offers two main a ...

Generalized sampling consists in the recovery of a function f, from the samples of the responses of a collection of linear shift-invariant systems to the input f . The reconstructed function is typically a member of a finitely generated integer-shift invar ...

We show that delta invariant of a log Fano pair can be approximated by lc places of plt complements if it is no greater than one. Under the assumption that delta invariant (no greater than one) of a log Fano pair can be approximated by lc places of bounded ...

High quality factor (Q) nanomechanical resonators have received a lot of attention for sensor applications with unprecedented sensitivity. Despite the large interest, few investigations into the frequency stability of high-Q resonators have been reported. ...

This article addresses the problem of simultaneous distributed state estimation, and control of linear systems with linear state feedback, subjected to process, and measurement noise, under the constraints of quantized, and rate-limited network data transm ...

We study the pattern formation of a thin film flowing under an inclined planar substrate. The phenomenon is studied in the context of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability using the lubrication equation. Inspired by experimental observations, we numerically stud ...

A stochastic model predictive control framework over unreliable Bernoulli communication channels, in the presence of unbounded process noise and under bounded control inputs, is presented for tracking a reference signal. The data losses in the control chan ...

One of the fundamental concerns in the operation of modern power systems is the assessment of their frequency stability in case of inertia-reduction induced by the large share of power electronic interfaced resources. Within this context, the paper propose ...

The goal of response theory, in each of its many statistical mechanical formulations, is to predict the perturbed response of a system from the knowledge of the unperturbed state and of the applied perturbation. A new recent angle on the problem focuses on ...

The response function of CdTe detectors used in a hard X-ray spectrometer system (HXRS) on the TCV tokamak fusion experiment is modeled based on the measured energy spectra from multiple gamma-ray sources. The response function consists of an asymmetric Ga ...

We study the problem of distributed estimation over adaptive networks where communication delays exist between nodes. In particular, we investigate the diffusion Least-Mean-Square (LMS) strategy where delayed intermediate estimates (due to the communicatio ...

We study the detailed temporal evolution of echo density in impulse responses for applications in acoustic analysis and rendering on general environments. For this purpose, we propose a smooth sorted density measure that yields an intuitive trend of echo d ...

We address the question of how interacting active systems in a nonequilibrium steady state respond to an external perturbation. We establish an extended fluctuation-dissipation theorem for active Brownian particles (ABP), which highlights the role played b ...

Objective: In this paper, a new vibrational modal analysis technique was developed for intraoperative cementless prosthesis fixation evaluation upon hammering. Methods: An artificial bone (Sawbones)-prosthesis system was excited by sweeping of a sine signa ...
