Objective. Microbeam radiation therapy (MRT) is an alternative emerging radiotherapy treatment modality which has demonstrated effective radioresistant tumour control while sparing surrounding healthy tissue in preclinical trials. This apparent selectivity ...

The digital revolution has significantly transformed our world over the past decades, driven by the scaling of transistor dimensions and the exponential increase in computation power. However, as the CMOS scaling era approaches its end, the semiconductor i ...

This article presents the design of a front-end circuit for monolithic active pixel sensors (MAPSs). The circuit operates with a sensor featuring a small, low-capacitance (

2.5D Systems-on-Package (SoPs) are composed by several chiplets placed on an interposer. They are becoming increasingly popular as they enable easy integration of electronic components in the same package and high fabrication yields. Nevertheless, they int ...

High-level synthesis (HLS) is the process of automatically generating circuits out of high-level language descriptions. Previous research has shown that dynamically scheduled HLS through elastic circuit generation is successful at exploiting parallelism in ...

Fluoxetine (FL) is one of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, which is used as an anti-depressant, as well as anti-panic drug. In this work, a sensor for label-free recognition of trace amounts of FL is introduced, which is based on an extended ga ...

This paper presents the open-source Python-based parameter extractor (SEKV-E) for the simplified EKV (sEKV) model, which enables the modern low-power circuit designs with the inversion coefficient design methodology. The tool extracts the essential sEKV pa ...

This paper describes an all-digital backscatter modulation approach leveraging delta-sigma modulation (DSM) to improve the in-channel spectral characteristics of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) backscatter communication. We demonstrate thr ...

Space-time (ST) wave packets, in which spatial and temporal characteristics are coupled, have gained attention due to their unique propagation characteristics, such as propagation invariance and tunable group velocity in addition to their potential ability ...

We present an all-digital application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) that implements Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)-compatible backscatter communication. The ASIC was fabricated in a 65 nm CMOS process and occupies an active area of 0.12 mm(2) while consum ...

In this article, we report on SwissSPAD3 (SS3), a 500 x 500 pixel single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array, fabricated in 0.18-mu m CMOS technology. In this sensor, we introduce a novel dual-gate architecture with two contiguous temporal windows, or gate ...
