The millimeter wave (mmWave) frequency band is becoming very interesting over the past years because it provides the opportunity to operate using large bandwidths which are not available at lower frequencies. This enables new communication standards suppor ...

Fundamental constraints imposing power-frequency trade-offs in conventional electronics have stimulated research on alternative technologies for millimeter-wave and sub-millimeter-wave applications. In this work, we use the picosecond threshold firing of n ...

This paper presents a small-area monolithic pixel detector ASIC designed in 130 nm SiGe BiCMOS technology for the upgrade of the pre-shower detector of the FASER experiment at CERN. The purpose of this prototype is to study the integration of fast front-en ...

Blumino is the first analog silicon photomultiplier with integrated amplifier, comparator and time-to-digital converter (TDC). The combination of a photodetector together with on-chip readout circuitry enables system-level advantages, such as internal para ...

Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) have extremely advantageous characteristics such as lightness, compactness, flexibility, and large displacements. However, in order to operate, they can require voltages in the order of several thousands of volts. Thus ...

Optical frequency combs have the potential to become key building blocks of wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) communication systems. The strictly equidistant narrow-band spectral lines of a frequency comb can serve either as carriers for parallel WDM ...

Gallium Nitride (GaN) and all III-Nitride compounds have revolutionized the world with the development of the blue light emitting diode (LED). In addition, GaN-based epi-structures, such as AlGaN/GaN, enable the fabrication of high electron mobility transi ...

In this paper, thermal management in GaN (gallium nitride) based microelectronic devices is addressed using microfluidic cooling. Numerical modeling is done using finite element analysis (FEA), and the results for temperature distribution are presented for ...

This paper presents a fully integrated low power class-E power amplifier and its integration to remotely powered sensor system. The on-chip 1.2 GHz power amplifier is implemented in 0.18 A mu m CMOS process with 0.2 V supply. The implantable system is powe ...

Non-linearities introduced by the power amplifier stage can significantly reduce the performance of self-interference cancellation in full-duplex transceivers. Accordingly, we propose a full-duplex system architecture that predistorts the digital baseband ...

This paper presents a low power fully integrated class-E power amplifier and its integration with remotely powered sensor system. The class-E power amplifier is suitable solution for low-power applications due to its high power efficiency. However, the req ...

A 2.4 GHz polar transmitter compliant with the IEEE 802.15.6 standard is presented in this paper. A Linearized class-C power amplifier, employing dynamic biasing is used to minimize the adjacent channel interference and satisfy the defined spectrum mask re ...

In this paper, building upon Bussgang's theorem, we present a new expression for the total degradation (TD) in OFDM systems. This novel expression is applicable to any high power amplifier (HPA) model. In case of ideal clipping HPA model and for particular ...

In this article, we present an integrated broadband complementary metal-oxide semiconductor single-chip transceiver suitable for the realization of multi-nuclear pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) probes. The realized single-chip transceiver can be in ...

This paper presents the two main circuit techniques, namely autozeroing (AZ) and chopper stabilization (CS), that are used to reduce the 1/f noise and offset in amplifiers typically used in sensor electronics interfaces. After recalling their main properti ...

The RF power of a gyrotron with a triode type magnetron-injection-gun (MIG) can be directly controlled via the voltage applied between its anode and its cathode. Hence, the performance of this type of gyrotron relies directly on the possibilities offered b ...

A 2.4 GHz low power polar transmitter is proposed in this paper. A dynamic biasing circuit, controlled by a digital envelope signal, is used as a direct digital-to-RF envelope converter. It effectively linearizes the input-output characteristic of the over ...

A study on ultrasound link for wireless energy transmission dedicated to deeply implanted medical devices is presented. The selection of the frequency to avoid biological side effects (e. g., cavitations), the choice of the power amplifier to drive the ext ...

A method to measure the signal power evolution along phase-sensitive parametric amplifiers is proposed using Brillouin optical time-domain analysis. Different evolutions along the fiber are reported by varying input wave phases, including amplification and ...

New generations of wireless communication systems require linear efficient RF power amplifiers (PAs) for higher transmission data rates and longer battery life. On the contrary, conventional PAs are normally designed for peak efficiency under maximum outpu ...
