Fossil fuel reliance in the transportation sector remains a leading contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, underscoring the urgent need for renewable alternatives like biodiesel. Derived from renewable feedstocks, biodiesel can reduce emissions, e ...

The rapid advancement of modern technology has led to a steep rise in global energy demand, posing serious challenges related to climate change and the geopolitical complexities of energy sourcing. In this context, modulators and optical amplifiers have be ...

An infinite-horizon optimal control paradigm is proposed to model the global energy transition to zero-net emissions when carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and electric fuel (E-Fuel) technologies become available. Infinite-horizon optimal trajectories for conve ...

Cutting plane methods are a fundamental approach for solving integer linear programs (ILPs). In each iteration of such methods, additional linear constraints (cuts) are introduced to the constraint set with the aim of excluding the previous fractional opti ...

Deliverable for WP3.3 of the project ABM4EnergyTransition 'Agent-based Simulation of Transition Scenarios for regional Heating and Energy Transformation'. ...

This study proposes a multi-objective optimization methodology for planning multi-energy complementary distributed energy systems considering process synergy and thermal integration. The process integration tech-nique is integrated into the Energy Hub mode ...

The traditional sequential design of building elements, where every element performs only one dedicated function, carries significant embodied energy. Thus, modular pre-fabricated load-bearing elements could overcome the disadvantages of the current carbon ...

This study presents an inter-comparison of three structurally different electricity system models (EXPANSE, Nexus-e, and OREES) with sub-national spatial resolution in Switzerland in 2035. We analyze technology and regional implications of three targets fo ...

This letter presents a whole-body robot control method for exploring and probing a given region of interest. The ergodic control formalism behind such an exploration behavior consists of matching the time-averaged statistics of a robot trajectory with the ...

Achieving climate neutrality will require clean alternatives to entirely replace fossil technologies in most economic sectors. However, standard Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) frameworks, which are widely used to analyse climate policies and rely on ...
