The performance of the differential pulse-width pair Brillouin optical time domain analysis (DPP-BOTDA) is evaluated experimentally using either the gain from log normalization or linear normalization for the subtraction of traces collected with pump pulse ...

A tunable and reconfigurable optical Nyquist channels aggregation is experimentally demonstrated. The proposed method two aggregate lower order modulation formats into a single higher order one. Two 16 Gbaud QPSK Nyquist pulses aggregated to a 16 QAM Nyqui ...

We numerically and experimentally studied the shape of the dissipative dispersion-managed solitons (DM-solitons) stably propagating over the lossy DM fiber-optic systems with lumped amplification. We found that, contrary to the lossless case, the chirp-fre ...

Network calculus is often used to prove delay bounds in deterministic networks, using arrival and service curves. We consider a FIFO system that offers a rate-latency service curve and where packet transmission occurs at line rate without pre-emption. The ...

We experimentally demonstrate three-fold wavelength multicasting of a 64-quadrature-amplitude-modulation (QAM), 120-Gbit/s data channel using a microresonator Kerr frequency comb and nonlinear wave mixing. The multicasting is achieved with a data signal an ...

We achieve unprecedented nonlinear optical amplification in gas. The gain is 20 times larger than any reported nonlinear gain in gas-filled HC-PCF and 6 times larger than the largest nonlinear gain in standard silica single-mode fiber (SMF). Furthermore, o ...

A technique to measure the local spectrum of forward stimulated Brillouin scattering (FSBS) along a standard optical fiber is proposed. The local acoustic impedance of surrounding material is retrieved from the measured FSBS resonance linewidth. ...

Spatio-temporal control of femtosecond pulse-delivery through multimode fibers (MMF) can be used to achieve two photon photo-polymerization. Transmission-matrix method is used in linear domain to solve the scrambling effect at the fiber output and generate ...

We experimentally investigate the effects of erbium-doped fiber amplifier induced pump noise on soliton Kerr frequency combs for 64-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) transmission. We find that the optical carrier-to-noise ratios (OCNRs) of the comb lin ...

We report the fabrication of ultra-compact flexible optical waveguides in polydimethylsiloxane through multiphoton direct laser writing, for the first time without a photoinitiator. A transmission loss of 0.03 dB/cm was measured in the 650-700 nm band. ...

We demonstrate high power ultrashort pulse delivery through a commercially available multicore fiber (MCF) and a multimode graded-index fiber (GRINF) for imaging and laser ablation. Lensless focusing and digital scanning of ultrashort pulses through the op ...

Conventional input/output (IO) links consume power, independent of changes in the bandwidth demand by the system they are deployed in. As the system is designed to satisfy the peak bandwidth demand, most of the time the IO links are idle but still consumin ...

We report on the investigation of an approach for modelling light transmission through systems consisting of several jointed optical fibres, in which the analytical modelling of the waveguides was replaced by Finite Element Modelling (FEM) simulations. To ...
