Conceptual models such as database schemas, ontologies or process models have been established as a means for effective engineering of information systems. Yet, for complex systems, conceptual models are created by a variety of stakeholders, which calls fo ...

Accurate CT bone segmentation is essential to develop chair-side manufacturing of implants based on additive manufacturing. We herewith present an automated method able to accurately segment challenging bone regions, while simultaneously providing anatomic ...

Image matching is a fundamental problem in Computer Vision. In the context of feature-based matching, SIFT and its variants have long excelled in a wide array of applications. However, for ultra-wide baselines, as in the case of aerial images captured unde ...

This thesis addresses the problem of recovering the 3-D shape of a deformable object in single images, or image sequences acquired by a monocular video camera, given that a 3-D template shape and a template image of the object are available. While being a ...

The open-source point cloud library (PCL) and the tools available for point cloud registration is presented. Pairwise registration is usually carried out by means of one of the several variants of the ICP algorithm. Due to the nonconvexity of the optimizat ...

Deformable surface tracking from monocular images is well-known to be under-constrained. Occlusions often make the task even more challenging, and can result in failure if the surface is not sufficiently textured. In this work, we explicitly address the pr ...

In this paper, we present an efficient numerical scheme for the recently introduced geodesic active fields (GAF) framework for geometric image registration. This framework considers the registration task as a weighted minimal surface problem. Hence, the da ...

Repeated structures are ubiquitous in urban facades. Such repetitions lead to ambiguity in establishing correspondences across sets of unordered images. A decoupled structure-from-motion reconstruction followed by symmetry detection often produces errors: ...

We propose a robust method for registering high oblique images of landscapes. Typically, an input image can be registered by matching it against a set of registered images of the same location. While this has been shown to work very well for images of popu ...

Diffusion MRI is a well established imaging modality providing a powerful way to non-invasively probe the structure of the white matter. Despite the potential of the technique, the intrinsic long scan times of these sequences have hampered their use in cli ...

The analysis of collections of visual data, e.g., their classification, modeling and clustering, has become a problem of high importance in a variety of applications. Meanwhile, image data captured in uncontrolled environments by arbitrary users is very li ...

With the advent of social image-sharing communities, millions of images with associated semantic tags are now available online for free and allow us to exploit this abundant data in new ways. We present a fast non-parametric statistical framework designed ...

Image registration is the concept of mapping homologous points in a pair of images. In other words, one is looking for an underlying deformation field that matches one image to a target image. The spectrum of applications of image registration is extremely ...

This paper discusses the mathematical framework for designing methods of Large Deformation Diffeomorphic Matching (LDM) for image registration in computational anatomy. After reviewing the geometrical framework of LDM image registration methods, we prove a ...

Shape registration and, more generally speaking, computing correspondence across shapes are fundamental problems in computer graphics and vision. Problems from this area show up in many diff erent variants such as scan registration, deformable shape matchi ...

This paper presents a new and original variational framework for atlas-based segmentation. The proposed framework integrates both the active contour framework, and the dense deformation fields of optical flow framework. This framework is quite general and ...

In this paper we present a novel geometric framework called geodesic active fields for general image registration. In image registration, one looks for the underlying deformation field that best maps one image onto another. This is a classic ill-posed inve ...

Efficient solutions for the classification of multi-view images can be built on graph-based algorithms when little information is known about the scene or cameras. Such methods typically require a pairwise similarity measure between images, where a common ...

It has been shown that the 3D shape of a deformable surface in an image can be recovered by establishing correspondences between that image and a reference one in which the shape is known. These matches can then be used to set-up a convex optimization prob ...

In this paper, we propose a novel method to register images defined on spherical meshes. Instances of such spherical images include inflated cortical feature maps in brain medical imaging or images from omnidirectional cameras. We apply the Geodesic Active ...
