The upgrade of the MALTA DMAPS designed in Tower 180 nm CMOS Imaging process will implement the numerous modifications, as well as front-end changes in order to boost the charge collection efficiency after the targeted fluence of 1x10(15) 1 MeVn(eq)/cm(2). ...

Photoacoustic tomography (PAT) is a relatively recent imaging modality that is promising for breast cancer detection and breast screening. It combines the high intrinsic contrast of optical radiation with acoustic imaging at submillimeter spatial resolutio ...

Two ways for producing a transport barrier through strong shear of the E x B poloidal flow have been investigated using GYSELA gyrokinetic simulations in a flux-driven regime. The first one uses an external poloidal momentum (i.e. vorticity) source that lo ...

B-splines are attractive basis functions for the continuous-domain representation of biomedical images and volumes. In this paper, we prove that the extended family of box splines are closed under the Radon transform and derive explicit formulae for their ...

To achieve the physics goals of future colliders, it is necessary to develop novel, radiation-hard silicon sensors for their tracking detectors. We target the replacement of hybrid pixel detectors with Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (DMAPS) that ...

The recent advances in fluorescent molecular probes, photon detection instrumentation, and photon propagation models in tissue, have facilitated the emergence of innovative molecular imaging technologies such as Fluorescence Diffuse Optical Tomography (FDO ...

Thermally stimulated current (TSC) is a widely used technique to assess trap states and extract their density, energy, and capture rate using analytical expressions. In many cases, the latter are derived from physical models pertaining to inorganic semicon ...

We introduce a systematic and practical design for steerable wavelet frames in 3D. Our steerable wavelets are obtained by applying a 3D version of the generalized Riesz transform to a primary isotropic wavelet frame. The novel transform is self-reversible ...

The topic of this thesis is the development of new algorithmic reconstruction methods for quantitative phase imaging (QPI). In the past decade, advanced QPI has emerged as a valuable tool to study label-free biological samples and uncover their 3D structur ...

Randomized trace estimation is a popular and well-studied technique that approximates the trace of a large-scale matrix B by computing the average of x(T) Bx for many samples of a random vector X. Often, B is symmetric positive definite (SPD) but a number ...

Reconstruction algorithms for fluorescence tomography have to address two crucial issues : 1) the ill-posedness of the reconstruction problem, 2) the large scale of numerical problems arising from imaging of 3-D samples. Our contribution is the design and ...

The past decades have seen numerous efforts to apply the finite volume methodology to solid mechanics problems. However, only limited work has been done by the finite volume community toward the simulation of mechanical contact. In this article, we present ...

Structural and electronic properties of the lambda-MnO2(001) surface are investigated applying density functional theory approach. The calculations show that all Mn ions at unreconstructed smooth surface preserve the +4 oxidation state observed in the bulk ...

This paper presents an optical diffraction tomography technique based on digital holographic microscopy. Quantitative 2-dimensional phase images are acquired for regularly-spaced angular positions of the specimen covering a total angle of π, allowing to bu ...

Inverse reconstruction from images is a central problem in many scientific and engineering disciplines. Recent progress on differentiable rendering has led to methods that can efficiently differentiate the full process of image formation with respect to mi ...

Technical and industrial heritage artefacts are characterized by the presence of mechanisms. The possibility to activate, or reactivate, these mechanisms is an integral part of the cultural values of this kind of patrimony. The artefacts' functionality, ho ...

In the framework of Higgs inflation, we consider the electromagnetic field nonminimally coupled to gravity via the parity-preserving proportional to RF2 and parity-violating proportional to RF (F) over tilde terms. Using the perturbation theory to the lead ...

The effects of operational and geometrical uncertainties on Tip Leakage Vortex (TLV) characteristics are investigated in the current research. Geometrical uncertainties are comprised of manufacturing tolerances or gradual geometry degradation over the time ...
