A new generation of space experiments is needed to enhance our understanding of cosmic rays. The challenge of the direct detection at ever higher energies, with improved energy and angular resolutions, is guiding us in the design of future detectors. The H ...

The standard model of particle physics currently provides our best description of fundamental particles and their interactions. The theory predicts that the different charged leptons, the electron, muon and tau, have identical electroweak interaction stren ...

Some nuclear isomers are known to store a large amount of energy over long periods of time, with a very high energy-to-mass ratio. Here, we describe a protocol to achieve the external control of the isomeric nuclear decay by using electron vortex beams who ...

We study the large deviations of the power injected by the active force for an active Ornstein-Uhlenbeck particle (AOUP), free or in a confining potential. For the free-particle case, we compute the rate function analytically in d-dimensions from a saddle- ...

New massive long-lived particles (LLP) are predicted by multiple beyond the Standard Model theories. This thesis presents the search of such long-lived particles decaying leptonically in the

e \mu \nu

final state. The search is performed using 2.31 fb$^{ ...

The ratio of the B-s(0) and B+ fragmentation fractions f(s) and f(u) is studied with B-s(0) -> J/psi phi and B+ -> J/psi K+ decays using data collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at 7, 8, and 13 TeV center-of-mass energies. The anal ...

We develop an extension of the basic inverse seesaw model which addresses simultaneously two of its drawbacks, namely, the lack of explanation of the tiny Majorana mass term for the TeV-scale singlet fermions and the difficulty in achieving successful lept ...

If the mass of the Higgs boson is put to zero, the classical Lagrangian of the Standard Model (SM) becomes conformally invariant (CI). Taking into account quantum non-perturbative QCD effects violating CI leads to electroweak symmetry breaking with the sca ...

Exploiting additional degrees of freedom in solid-state materials may be the most-promising solution when approaching the quantum limit of Moore's law for the conventional electronic industry. Recently discovered topologically nontrivial spin textures, sky ...

The production of J/psi mesons in jets is studied in the forward region of proton-proton collisions using data collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The fraction of the jet transverse momentum carried by the J/psi meson, z( ...

The production of J/psi mesons is studied with the LHCb detector using data from pp collisions at root s = 2.76 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 71 nb(-1). The differential cross-section for inclusive J/psi production is measured as a funct ...

The decay B-c(+) -> J/psi K+ is observed for the first time using a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1), collected by the LHCb experiment in p p collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. A yield of 46 +/- 12 events is ...

We update the experimental constraints on the parameters of the Higgs effective Lagrangian. We combine the most recent LHC Higgs data in all available search channels with electroweak precision observables from SLC, LEP-1, LEP-2, and the Tevatron. Overall, ...

The ratio of branching fractions of the radiative B decays B-0 -> K*(0)gamma and B(0)s -> phi gamma has been measured using 0.37 fb(-1) of pp collisions at a center of mass energy of root s = 7 TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment. The value obtained is B ...

The interference fragmentation function translates the fragmentation of a quark with a transverse projection of the spin into an azimuthal asymmetry of two final-state hadrons. In e(+)e(-) annihilation the product of two interference fragmentation function ...
