Reinterpretable cameras are defined by their post-processing capabilities that exceed traditional imaging. We present "SoDaCam" that provides reinterpretable cameras at the granularity of photons, from photon-cubes acquired by single-photon devices. Photon ...

Data imputation of incomplete image sequences is an essential prerequisite for analyzing and monitoring all development stages of plants in precision agriculture. For this purpose, we propose a conditional Wasserstein generative adversarial network TransGr ...

Understanding lake dynamics is crucial to provide scientifically credible information for ecosystem management. In this context, three-dimensional hydrodynamic models are a key information source to assess critical but often subtle changes in lake dynamics ...

Vision scientists have attempted to classify visual illusions according to certain aspects, such as brightness or spatial features. For example, Piaget proposed that visual illusion magnitudes either decrease or increase with age. Subsequently, it was sugg ...

Biofilms are a most successful microbial lifestyle and prevail in a multitude of environmental and engineered settings. Understanding biofilm morphogenesis, that is the structural diversification of biofilms during community assembly, represents a remarkab ...

Unsteady flow separation in rotationally augmented flow fields plays a significant role in the aerodynamic performance of industrial rotors, including wind turbines. Current computational models underestimate the aerodynamic loads due to the inaccurate pre ...

Human motion prediction, i.e., forecasting future body poses given observed pose sequence, has typically been tackled with recurrent neural networks (RNNs). However, as evidenced by prior work, the resulted RNN models suffer from prediction errors accumula ...

Automatically extracting linear structures from images is a fundamental low-level vision problem with numerous applications in different domains. Centerline detection and radial estimation are the first crucial steps in most Computer Vision pipelines aimin ...

The present study proposes a method based on ski fixed inertial sensors to automatically compute spatio-temporal parameters (phase durations, cycle speed and cycle length) for the diagonal stride in classical cross-country skiing. The proposed system was v ...

The convergence of properly time-scaled and normalized maxima of independent standard Brownian motions to the Brown-Resnick process is well-known in the literature. In this paper, we study the extremal functional behavior of non-Gaussian processes, namely ...

Similar to analog silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs), digital SiPMs (dSiPMs) essentially consist of an array of single-photon avalanche photodiodes (SPADs). Instead of a passive quench resistor, however, an active quenching circuit is locally integrated with ...

This paper presents an upper-body detection algorithm that extends classical shape-based detectors through the use of additional semantic colour segmentation cues. More precisely, candidate upper-body image patches produced by a base detector are soft-segm ...

A SIFT algorithm in spherical coordinates for omnidirectional images is proposed. This algorithm can generate two types of local descriptors, Local Spherical Descriptors and Local Planar Descriptors. With the first ones, point matching between two omnidire ...

GIS is an interdisciplinary technology able to support high-level thinking and spatial reasoning. It allows students to visualize complex real world problems, and supports multiple modes of learning. But GIS remain unused at the primary school level. Indee ...

The spatial structure of the raindrop size distribution (DSD) conveys crucial information for reliable quantitative estimation of rainfall using remote sensing techniques. To investigate this question, a network of 16 optical disdrometers has been deployed ...

Two classical but crucial and unsolved problems in Computer Vision are treated in this thesis: tracking and matching. The first part of the thesis deals with tracking, studying two of its main difficulties: object representation model drift and total occlu ...

It is well-known that the Gaussian functions and, more generally, their modulations-translations (the Gabor functions) have the unique property of being optimally localized in space and frequency in the sense of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. In this ...

This paper presents a new filter for EEG Event-Related Potentials that relies on spatio-temporal features. The results are analyzed with error-related potentials, and compared to the results obtained with Independent Component Analysis. Additionally, the o ...

With the increasing demand of information for more immersive applications such as Google Street view or 3D movies, the efficient analysis of visual data from cameras has gained more importance. This visual information permits to extract some crucial inform ...

Most of the multi-camera systems assume a well structured environment to detect and match objects across cameras. Cameras need to be fixed and calibrated. In this work, a novel system is presented to detect and match any objects in a network of uncalibrate ...
