The adhesive bonding of composite materials can be applied to assemble light-weight structures for aeronautical applications. However, the application of adhesive bonds in primary load-bearing structures is limited by the lack of adequate techniques to mon ...

We demonstrate the generation of quantum-correlated photon pairs combined with the spectral filtering of the pump field by more than 95 dB on a single silicon chip using electrically tunable ring resonators and passive Bragg reflectors. Moreover, we perfor ...

Since the invention of optical fiber cable data transmission using light has become ubiquitous in the past years. Nonlinear optical effects, which are hardly noticed in our daily life, have become crucial and highly influential for the design and performan ...

Frequency stabilization of a diode laser locked to a whispering gallery mode (WGM) reference resonator made of a MgF2 single crystal is demonstrated. The strong thermal dependence of the difference frequency between two orthogonally polarized TE an TM mode ...

We detail the design and fabrication technology of two-dimensional photonic crystal (PhC) band edge emitting quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) operating at terahertz frequencies (similar to 3.3 THz). The entire QCL active layer has been deeply etched to form a ...

An AlInN/AlGaN microcavity (MC) containing a GaN/Al0.2Ga0.8N multiple quantum well (MQW) structure is investigated through room temperature (RT) photoluminescence and reflectivity experiments. A vacuum Rabi splitting as large as 50 meV at RT is reported fo ...

We report the growth of highly reflective distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) in the UV region using the Al0.85In0.15N/Al0.2Ga0.8N lattice-matched system. The DBRs were deposited on nearly strain-free Al0.2Ga0.8N templates to avoid strain-induced structura ...

A four-wavelength low-power continuous-wave frequency laser reference system has been realised in the 935.4-nm range for water vapour differential absorption lidar (DIAL) applications. The system is built around laboratory extended-cavity and DFB diode las ...
