Ride-hailing services are becoming increasingly popular, and their influence on overall transportation network performance is consequential. Their convenience and flexibility attract many users, but their impact on traffic and their interference with publi ...

Fossil fuel reliance in the transportation sector remains a leading contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, underscoring the urgent need for renewable alternatives like biodiesel. Derived from renewable feedstocks, biodiesel can reduce emissions, e ...

This paper extends the authors' previous work on Control by Interconnection - Model Predictive Control (CbI-MPC) design for constrained port-Hamiltonian systems to deal with the unmeasurable system states. The first contribution resides in the CbI-oriented ...

This study presents an inter-comparison of three structurally different electricity system models (EXPANSE, Nexus-e, and OREES) with sub-national spatial resolution in Switzerland in 2035. We analyze technology and regional implications of three targets fo ...

This study proposes a multi-objective optimization methodology for planning multi-energy complementary distributed energy systems considering process synergy and thermal integration. The process integration tech-nique is integrated into the Energy Hub mode ...

The research of this paper is framed in the context of multi-layered, optimization-based approaches for microgrid control. Specifically, we focus on the design of real-time objectives that are typically proxies of long-term ones. Examples include tracking ...

Choice-based optimization problems are the family of optimization problems that incorporate the stochasticity of individual preferences according to discrete choice models to make planning decisions. This integration brings non-convexity and nonlinearity t ...

This paper addresses the problem of overloading in power distribution networks, which stems from the transmission systems being incapable of delivering power from source to consumers during peak hours. This causes frequent power-outages (or blackouts), req ...

Path-following tasks, which refer to dynamic motion planning along pre-specified geometric references, are frequently encountered in applications such as milling, robot-supported measurements, and trajectory planning for autonomous vehicles. Different conv ...

In this paper, a novel hierarchical multirate control scheme for nonlinear discrete-time systems is presented, consisting of a robust nonlinear model predictive controller (NMPC) and a multirate sliding mode disturbance compensator (MSMDC). The proposed MS ...
