Anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE) offers a green hydrogen production method that eliminates the need for platinum group metals (PGM) as electrocatalysts. This study employs a COMSOL (R) 6.0 model to simulate a 1x1 cm(2) Ni fibre - Raney (R ...

Permissible limits of Pb 2+ in drinking water are being reduced from 10 mu gL -1 to 5 mu gL -1 , which calls for rapid, and highly reliable detection techniques. Electrochemical sensors have garnered attention in detection of heavy metal ions in environmen ...

Living photovoltaics are microbial electrochemical devices that use whole cell–electrode interactions to convert solar energy to electricity. The bottleneck in these technologies is the limited electron transfer between the microbe and the electrode surfac ...

In recent years, many efforts have been made to find alternative renewable energy sources that can ideally replace the use of fossil fuels in all aspects. One of the new emerging energy technologies is the bioelectrochemical system, of which two types are ...

A gas diffusion electrode (GDE) based CO2 electrolyzer shows enhanced CO2 transport to the catalyst surface, significantly increasing current density compared to traditional planar immersed electrodes. A two-dimensional model for the cathode side of a micr ...

High-throughput testing of photoelectrochemical cells and materials under well-defined operating conditions can accelerate the discovery of new semiconducting materials, the characterization of the phenomena occurring at the semiconductor-electrolyte inter ...

Thesynthesis of molecular uranium complexes in oxidation stateslower than +3 remains a challenge despite the interest for their multielectrontransfer reactivity and electronic structures. Herein, we report theone- and two-electron reduction of a U(III) com ...

Melt electrowriting is a microscale manufacturing technique that uses polymer-based melts to create fibrous structures. An electric field is used to stabilize a continuous molten jet, which is then written onto a substrate as a microscale fiber. Herein, it ...

Electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide is a promising approach to decrease the amount of anthropogenic CO2 being released into the atmosphere, provided that a surplus of renewable electrical energy is available. Copper based materials are at the cente ...

The visible light driven water oxidation reaction (WOR) by the organic electron acceptor 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyano-quinodimethane (TCNQF(4)) was studied at the water|butyronitrile interface. The WOR was performed at neutral pH, and without any ...

The water splitting is an appealing approach to fulfil the demand of energy without any global concerns. The oxygen evolution reaction is one of way to achieve unlimited energy from water but the low stability, high energy required to drive the reaction (o ...

The chemistry of divalent lanthanides has generated increasing interest in the past years due to their redox properties and unique reaction pathways. Notably, molecular complexes of low-valent lanthanides have been shown to be suitable one-electron reducta ...

Lithium-ion batteries with enhanced rate performance are of crucial importance for practical applications. Extensive studies on the structural design and surface modification of electrode materials with the aim of improving the rate performance have been r ...

Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) are interesting soft actuators compared to other actuation technologies owing to large achievable actuation strains, high energy density and fast actuation. However, because DEAs need to be operated under high electric ...

Over the past decade, lead halide perovskites (LHPs) have received considerable attention thanks to their impressive optoelectronic properties. Today, LHP-based devices are one of the most efficient single-junction solar cells, with power-conversion effici ...

We report on organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) with active channels made of hybrid inkjet-printed poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) and electropolymerized polyaniline (PANI) layers, exhibiting simultaneously impro ...

One of the most prominent hole-transporting material (HTM) for hybrid perovskite solar cells has been 2,2″,7,7″-tetrakis[N,N-di(4-methoxyphenyl)amino]-9,9′-spirobifluorene (spiro-OMeTAD), which is commonly doped with metal bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ...

Many industrial processes are based on electrochemical reactions using engineered electrocatalysts. However, the current lack of theoretical knowledge obscures efforts to maximize catalysts' efficiency, and the optimization process is mostly empirical. To ...

In this work, a simple procedure for the preparation of an inkjet printed disposable graphene electrode is reported. Commercial graphene ink was printed on a kapton substrate and the resulting electrode was 30 min treated by oxygen plasma, then modified by ...

Biphenyl-4-thiol (B4t) functionalised p-GaAs photocathodes were compared to non-functionalised p-GaAs ones in the presence of methyl viologen cation radical (MV+•) as a redox mediator. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS ...
