Ultrafast ultrasound imaging, characterized by high frame rates, generates low-quality images. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have demonstrated great potential to enhance image quality without compromising the frame rate. However, CNNs have been most ...

Data imputation of incomplete image sequences is an essential prerequisite for analyzing and monitoring all development stages of plants in precision agriculture. For this purpose, we propose a conditional Wasserstein generative adversarial network TransGr ...

This paper describes an all-digital backscatter modulation approach leveraging delta-sigma modulation (DSM) to improve the in-channel spectral characteristics of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) backscatter communication. We demonstrate thr ...

The benefits and limitations inherent to the 2D post-processing of measurements from Brillouin optical time-domain analyzers are investigated from a fundamental point of view. In a preliminary step, the impact of curve fitting on the precision of the estim ...

This paper considers the problem of reconstructing raw signals from random projections in the context of time-of-flight imaging with an array of sensors. It presents a new signal model, coined as multi-channel pulse-stream model, which exploits pulse-strea ...

The performance of unipolar unicolor coded Brillouin optical time-domain analysis (BOTDA) is evaluated based on both Simplex and Golay codes. Four major detrimental factors that limit the system performance, including decoded-gain trace distortion, coding ...

The jitter and the phase noise of ring oscillators utilizing subthreshold source-coupled logic (STSCL) style are analyzed in this paper. Closed-form equations are derived to predict the jitter and phase noise caused by white and flicker noise. Measurement ...

Since the invention of optical fiber cable data transmission using light has become ubiquitous in the past years. Nonlinear optical effects, which are hardly noticed in our daily life, have become crucial and highly influential for the design and performan ...

We consider the problem of estimating sparse communication channels in the MIMO context. In small to medium bandwidth communications, as in the current standards for OFDM and CDMA communication systems (with bandwidth up to 20 MHz), such channels are indiv ...

Joint processing of visible (RGB) and near-infrared (NIR) images has recently found some appealing applications, which make joint capturing a pair of visible and NIR images an important problem. In this paper, we propose a new method to design color filter ...

Anticipation is a mental process during which a person actively engages in a phase required for the sensory perception and execution of the optimal actions at the arrival of the relevant future events. Since this process occurs before the execution of an i ...

Integrated Hall devices have the great advantage, over other magnetic sensors, that they can be fully fabricated by a standard CMOS process. However they are known to have a relatively large offset (i.e. residual voltage at zero magnetic field). Techniques ...

Carbon nanotubes (CNT) have been investigated extensively in the recent years for application in nano-electromechanical systems (NEMS). CNTs have extraordinary electrical and mechanical properties. They are stiff, with low density, high electrical conducti ...

The transceivers of a wireless sensor network (WSN) have to fulfill the low-power and low-voltage constraints. The WiseNET project has already proven that it is possible to design a receiver working at 1V and consuming less than 2mW. However this transceiv ...

We use a comprehensive set of non-redundant orthogonal wavelet transforms and apply a denoising method called SUREshrink in each individual wavelet subband to denoise images corrupted by additive Gaussian white noise. We show that, for various images and a ...

Cataract is the leading cause of blindness worldwide. The clouding of the human eye lens is called "Grauer Star" in German. In the industrialized countries this process of increased blindness is corrected by the surgical removal of the clouded lens and its ...
