The fabrication of defined and high-quality metal nanostructures is an ongoing topic of research. Direct-write deposition of copper nanostructures is of great value for many fields of research and industrial applications. Focused electron beam induced depo ...

Combination of biotic and abiotic factors influences the effects of naturally occurring or anthropogenic chemicals on photosynthetic microorganisms in the aquatic environment. Nonetheless, the combined effects of physical stressors and species-species inte ...

Natural systems have marvelously utilized copper complexes featuring sulfur-coordinating ligands, known as blue copper proteins, as efficient electron-transfer mediators in biological processes. Copper complexes with sulfur-coordinating ligands have been a ...

Photovoltaic (PV) technologies attract a lot of attention as a result of the increasing energy demand and environmental concerns stemming from the conventional energy resources. Accordingly, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) values of various solar ene ...

The erosion of hydraulic machines by solid particle impacts is a widespread problem that leads to outage for expensive repairs, efficiency reduction, and cavitation enhancement. Numerical simulations can be used to study the phenomenon, provided they featu ...

The recombination of injected electrons with oxidized redox species and regeneration behavior of copper redox mediators are investigated for four copper complexes, [Cu(dmby)2]2+/1+ (dmby = 6,6′-dimethyl-2,2′- bipyridine), [Cu(tmby)2]2+/1+ (tmby = 4,4′,6,6′ ...

The identification of an efficient and stable redox mediator is of paramount importance for commercialization of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Herein, we report a new class of copper complexes containing diamine-dipyridine tetradentate ligands (L1 = N ...

Inductive detection with double-balanced coils and a spatial phase profile were used to identify copper and steel rods in a composite target. The electromagnetic detection system was designed and validated using a dipole model. Simulations and experiments ...

This invention discloses a new class of dopants that allows easy tuning of the chem., phys., optical and/or electronic properties of the doping agent in order to carefully adapt it to the desired application, such as org. solar cells or solid state dye-sen ...

Cupredoxins perform copper-mediated long-range electron transfer (ET) in biological systems. Their copper-binding sites have evolved to force copper ions into ET-competent systems with decreased reorganization energy, increased reduction potential, and a d ...

CueP confers bacterial copper resistance in the periplasm, particularly under anaerobic conditions, through an unknown mechanism. The only available structure and limited solution data suggest that CueP forms noncovalent timers in solution, whereas sequenc ...

Copper is an essential trace element, the imbalances of which are associated with various pathological conditions, including cancer, albeit via largely undefined molecular and cellular mechanisms. Here we provide evidence that levels of bioavailable copper ...

An updated picture of the ligand sets and copper-ligand atom bond lengths in proteins is presented which takes advantage of (i) the approximately twofold increase in the number of entries for copper-containing proteins in the PDB since the last study of th ...

Transition-metal-catalyzed C-C coupling reactions have been extensively studied in the past three decades. These reactions have become invaluable to fundamental research and industrial applications, because they can be used construct complicated molecules ...

Human activity results in the production of a wide range of pollutants that can enter the water cycle through stormwater or wastewater. Among others, heavy metals are still detected in high concentrations around urban areas and their impact on aquatic orga ...

Copper-b-amyloid 16 (Aβ16) complexes were investigated by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Copper(I) and (II) complexes were formed on-line in a microchip electrospray emitter by using a sacrificial copper electrode as the anode in posit ...

Cysteine-containing peptide oxidation was studied both by using an inert platinum electrode and a sacrificial electrode (copper or zinc) generating metallic ions in electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Using peptides containing one, two and ...

Atomic ordering and stress-induced ordering (Zener relaxation) were studied in a series of 18-carat (75 wt%) yellow gold alloys (Au-Cu-Ag) by means of isothermal mechanical spectroscopy with a forced torsion pendulum at low frequencies. In the high-tempera ...
