The present paper reports on an experimental investigation of the structural, electrical and optical properties of Ru rich Ru1-xTixO2 thin films. Rutile single-phaseRu(1-x)Ti(x)O(2) thin films have been deposited by reactive hybrid High-power impulse magne ...

We numerically investigate the second harmonic generation from different plasmonic systems and evidence the key role played in their nonlinear response by the phase at the fundamental wavelength. In the case of a single plasmonic nanorod, the interference ...

We studied the nonlinear optical properties of single layer graphene using high terahertz (THz) fields. With the use of a back gate and cooling down the sample to cryogenic temperatures we are able to spectrally probe the nonlinear THz properties of intrin ...

Plasmonics has emerged as an important research field in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Recently, significant attention has been devoted to the observation and the understanding of nonlinear optical processes in plasmonic nanostructures, giving rise to th ...

A convenient approach for slowing down light in integrated optical circuits is by utilizing a set of coupled microcavities in a photonic crystal lattice. While this provides for flexibility in dispersion engineering, light transport is influenced by a comb ...

Since most of the academic photonic and plasmonic nanostructures are based on slow and expensive electron beam lithography processes, there is a need for innovative alternatives suitable for industrial manufacturing. Large areas need to be patterned with a ...

Bloch surface waves (BSWs) are surface electromagnetic modes that propagate at the interface between a multilayer substrate and a homogeneous external medium. The optical field of the surface mode is confined near the surface of the multilayer. This vertic ...

In the last few decades, plasmonic nanostructures have been studied and used vividly for numerous applications ranging from medicine and diagnostics to efficiency enhancement of solar cells. In line with this, the main focus of this thesis is to investigat ...

The invention concerns an observation device such as cell culture wells comprising an optical element such as a lens or a filter, or even combinations thereof, for compensating an optical effect induced on a sample contained in the observation device and i ...

During the last decade, important attention has been devoted to the observation of nonlinear optical processes in plasmonic nanosystems, giving rise to a new field of research called nonlinear plasmonics. The cornerstone of nonlinear plasmonics is the use ...

The coupling between metallic nanostructures is a common and easy way to control the optical properties of plasmonic systems. Even though the coupling between plasmonic oscillators has been widely studied in the linear regime, its influence on the nonlinea ...

We investigate experimentally and theoretically the role of periodicity on the optical response of dolmen plasmonic arrays that exhibit a Fano line shape. Contrary to previous works on single nanostructures, this study deals with the in-plane near-field co ...

The optimization of nonlinear optical processes in plasmonic structures is important for the design of efficient nonlinear nanosources of light. Considering the simple case of spherical nanoparticles, we clearly identify the most efficient channel for seco ...
