HTTP adaptive streaming (HAS) has become the universal technology for video streaming over the Internet. Many HAS system designs aim at sharing the network bandwidth in a rate-fair manner. However, rate fairness is in general not equivalent to quality fair ...

In free viewpoint video, a viewer can choose at will any camera angle or the so-called "virtual view" to observe a dynamic 3-D scene, enhancing his/her depth perception. The virtual view is synthesized using texture and depth videos of two anchor camera vi ...

Software packet-processing platforms- - network devices running on general-purpose servers-- are emerging as a compelling alternative to the traditional high-end switches and routers running on specialized hardware. Their promise is to enable the fast dep ...

In this paper we address the problem of quantized consensus where process noise or external inputs corrupt the state of each agent at each iteration. We propose a quantized consensus algorithm with progressive quantization, where the quantization interval ...

The emergence of OpenFlow-capable switches enables exciting new network functionality, at the risk of programming errors that make communication less reliable. The centralized programming model, where a single controller program manages the network, seems ...

In this work, we propose a distributed rate allocation algorithm that minimizes the average decoding delay for multimedia clients in inter-session network coding systems. We consider a scenario where the users are organized in a mesh network and each user ...

We derive an optimization framework for computing a view selection policy for streaming multi-view content over a bandwidth constrained channel. The optimization allows us to determine the decisions of sending the packetized data such that the end-to-end r ...

Recent advances in data processing and communication systems have led to a continuous increase in the amount of data communicated over today’s networks. These large volumes of data pose new challenges on the current networking infrastructure that only offe ...

In free viewpoint applications, the images are cap- tured by an array of cameras that acquire a scene of interest from different perspectives. Any intermediate viewpoint not included in the camera array can be virtually synthesized by the decoder, at a qua ...

Increasingly popular multimedia services are expected to play a dominant role in the future of the Internet. In this context, it is essential that content-aware networking (CAN) architectures explicitly address the efficient delivery and processing of mult ...

Current security systems often rely on the adversary's computational limitations. Wireless networks offer the opportunity for a different, complementary kind of security, which relies on the adversary's limited network presence (i.e., that the adversary ca ...
