We report herein the first examples of a palladiumcatalyzed enantioselective Cacchi reaction for the synthesis of indoles bearing a chiral C2-aryl axis. In the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(OAc)2 and (R,R)-QuinoxP* ligand, reaction of N-aryl(alkyl)s ...

It has been more than 40 years since Fujishima and Honda demonstrated water splitting using TiO2, yet there is still no clear mechanism by which surface holes on TiO2 oxidize water. In this paper, we use a range of complementary techniques to study this re ...

The structural and electrochemical properties of a quaternary layered compound with elemental composition Mn2Sb3O6Cl have been investigated upon reaction with lithium in Li half cells. Operando XRD was used to investigate the potential impact of this parti ...

We report the observation of two signatures of a pressure-induced topological quantum phase transition in the polar semiconductor BiTeI using x-ray powder diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. The x-ray data confirm that BiTeI remains in its ambient-press ...

Surfactant liposome interactions have been previously studied through different methods and techniques. We present here a classical physical chemistry study on liposome solutions added to destabilizing agents at concentrations well above the solubilization ...

The trends in web development of educational applications and of Web 2.0 or social applications are converging. Platforms are designed to host a variety of software components (called widgets or plugins), which can be organised or combined (mashed-up) at u ...

A classification methodology for the automatic detection of start- and endpoints of chemical and biotechnological reaction systems from spectral reaction data is proposed. In the calibration phase, several batch experiments must be conducted covering the e ...

This paper describes a lab-on-a-chip device for continuous liquid/solid chromatography measurements. Chromatographic separations of phenolic test solutions as well as of vitamins are illustrating the ability and versatility of the system. The dependence of ...

We discuss variance estimation by resampling in surveys in which data are missing. We derive a formula for jackknife linearization in the case of calibrated estimation with deterministic regression imputation, and compare the resulting variance estimates w ...

The occurrence of alkali-silica and alkali-silicate reactions causes damage in concrete. Even though the reaction has been known for some time, the progress of reaction in affected structures is difficult to predict. This research programme aims to study t ...

This thesis describes a method that allows the production in parallel of nano-reactor systems whose function is controlled by a remote stimulus. The reactors comprise a nested system of lipid vesicles part of which release their content during a thermotrop ...

In blends of unsaturated polyester (UP), poly (vinyl acetate) (PVAc), and styrene, a reaction-induced phase separation occurs upon curing that is due to the crosslinking between styrene and the UP molecules. The evolution of the morphology was observed by ...

The main objectives of this work are 2-fold : The development of a novel type of composite material based on carbon nanofibers supported on sintered metal fibers filters (CNF/SMF) and to explore the use of this material as a catalytic support for a model r ...

12-Metallacrown-3 complexes were formed by self-assembly of organometallic half-sandwich complexes [(π-ligand)MCl2]2 (M = Ru, Rh, Ir) and 3-hydroxy-2-pyridone ligands in the presence of Cs2CO3 as base. Upon mixing of different macrocycles, reversible metal ...

This laser kinetics features of the electron decay of TiO2 in the presence of the Escherichia coli (E. coli) phosphatidyl-ethanolcholine (PE) and lipo-polysaccharides (LPS) cell wall components were are reported in this study. The interaction of the biomol ...

Electronic structure changes are at the origin of the making, breaking and transformation of bonds. These changes can be visualized by measuring the geometric structure in "real-time" during the course of a chemical reaction, a biological function or a phy ...

Indicator displacement assays based on the organometallic complex [Cp*RhCl2]2 and the dye gallocyanine have been used to sense aminosugars and aminoglycosides in buffered aqueous solution by UV-Vis spectroscopy. The data of three assays at pH 7.0, 8.0 and ...

This thesis is devoted to the study of the dispersion polymerization of methyl methacrylate in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2), using a poly(dimethylsiloxane) macromonomer (PDMS macromonomer) as stabilizer. Supercritical fluids (SCF) and SCF mixtures ...

The increasing complexity and heterogeneity of modern light water reactor (LWR) fuel assemblies impose new challenges to current reactor physics codes in terms of maintaining and improving the quality of neutronics predictions for the core. In particular, ...

This thesis deals with the combined utilisation of a reaction calorimeter, the RC1® commercialised by Mettler Toledo and equipped with a 2 L glass reactor, and the heat transfer dynamics modelling of industrial reactors. By doing so, the temperature evolut ...
