In this note, we prove that if a subharmonic function Delta u >= 0 has pure second derivatives partial derivative(ii)u that are signed measures, then their negative part (partial derivative(ii)u)- belongs to L-1 (in particular, it is not singular). We then ...

The sequence of codes Serpent/DYN3D has been developed by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf and successfully applied to core static and transient analyses of sodium-cooled fast reactors (SFRs). The successful application of the sequence to SFRs was ...

Accurately estimating 3D human pose (3D HPE) and joint locations using only 2D keypoints is challenging. The noise in the predictions produced by conventional 2D human pose estimators often impeded the accuracy. In this paper, we present a diffusion-based ...

Inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted increasing attention in recent years owing to their low-temperature fabrication proces s. However, they suffer from a limited number of electron transport materials available with [6,6]-phenyl C-61 buty ...

We develop a novel 2D functional learning framework that employs a sparsity-promoting regularization based on second-order derivatives. Motivated by the nature of the regularizer, we restrict the search space to the span of piecewise-linear box splines shi ...

We consider expected performances based on max-stable random fields and we are interested in their derivatives with respect to the spatial dependence parameters of those fields. Max-stable fields, such as the Brown-Resnick and Smith fields, are very popula ...

Purpose Abdominal MRI scans may require breath-holding to prevent image quality degradation, which can be challenging for patients, especially children. In this study, we evaluate whether FID navigators can be used to measure and correct for motion prospec ...

We study vector-valued solutions u(t, x) is an element of R-d to systems of nonlinear stochastic heat equations with multiplicative noise, ...

Plant natural products (PNPs) and their derivatives are important but underexplored sources of pharmaceutical molecules. To access this untapped potential, the reconstitution of heterologous PNP biosynthesis pathways in engineered microbes provides a valua ...

Binary dielectric metasurfaces are arrays of sub-wavelength structures that act as a thin layer of artificial material. They are generally lossless and relatively simple to fabricate since only a single structuring step is required. By carefully designing ...

We study a variant of the interpolation problem where the continuously defined solution is regularized by minimizing the L p -norm of its second-order derivative. For this continuous-domain problem, we propose an exact discretization scheme that restricts ...

In an open, bounded subset Omega of R-N such that 0 is an element of Omega we consider the nonlinear eigenvalue problem -Sigma(N)(i,j,=1) partial derivative(i){A(ij)(x)partial derivative(j)u} + V(x)u + n(x,del u)+ g(x, u) = lambda u in Omega integral(Omega ...

In this paper we propose a dynamical low-rank strategy for the approximation of second order wave equations with random parameters. The governing equation is rewritten in Hamiltonian form and the approximate solution is expanded over a set of 2S dynamical ...

Physically based differentiable rendering has recently evolved into a powerful tool for solving inverse problems involving light. Methods in this area perform a differentiable simulation of the physical process of light transport and scattering to estimate ...

The idea that the brain functions so as to minimize certain costs pervades theoretical neuroscience. Because a cost function by itself does not predict how the brain finds its minima, additional assumptions about the optimization method need to be made to ...

Fractional operators are widely used in mathematical models describing abnormal and nonlocal phenomena. Although there are extensive numerical methods for solving the corresponding model problems, theoretical analysis such as the regularity result, or the ...

The goal of derivative sampling is to reconstruct a signal from the samples of the function and of its first-order derivative. In this paper, we consider this problem over a shift-invariant reconstruction subspace generated by two compact-support functions ...

Forkciphers are a new kind of primitive proposed recently by Andreeva et al. for efficient encryption and authentication of small messages. They fork the middle state of a cipher and encrypt it twice under two smaller independent permutations. Thus, forkci ...

We consider the stationary flow of an inviscid and incompressible fluid of constant density in the region D = (0, L) x R-2. We are concerned with flows that are periodic in the second and third variables and that have prescribed flux through each point of ...

We study the consequences of (beyond) positivity of scattering amplitudes in the effective field theory description of the Higgs-Dilaton inflationary model. By requiring the EFT to be compatible with a unitary, causal, local and Lorentz invariant UV comple ...
