Cell-cell communication is fundamental for immune balance. Multivalent interactions of surface receptors at immune interfaces drive specific communication, with stimulatory and inhibitory signals guiding the immune outcome. Notably, the valency, affinity, ...

Computational protein engineering has enabled the rational design of customized proteins, which has propelled both sequence-based and structure-based immunogen engineering and delivery. By discerning antigenic determinants of viral pathogens, computational ...

BackgroundDepression and anxiety are known to be associated with stress-induced changes in the immune system. Bothersome tinnitus can be related to stress and often co-occurs with depression and anxiety. This study investigates associations of psychologica ...

The response of the adaptive immune system is augmented by multimeric presentation of a specific antigen, resembling viral particles. Several vaccines have been designed based on natural or designed protein scaffolds, which exhibited a potent adaptive immu ...

Cancers induced by human papillomaviruses (HPV) should be responsive to immunotherapy by virtue of expressing the immunogenic oncoproteins E6/E7. However, advanced forms of cervical cancer, driven by HPV, are poorly responsive to immune response-enhancing ...

A versatile and highly effective platform remains a major challenge in the development of personalized cancer vaccines. Here, we devised a redox-responsive polycondensate neoepitope (PNE) through a reversible polycondensation reaction of peptide neoantigen ...

P27A is a novel synthetic malaria vaccine candidate derived from the blood stage Plasmodium falciparum protein Trophozoite Exported Protein 1 (TEX1/PFF0165c). In phase 1a/1b clinical trials in malaria unexposed adults in Switzerland and in malaria pre-expo ...

Homeostatic antigen presentation by hepatic antigen-presenting cells, which results in tolerogenic T-cell education, could be exploited to induce antigen-specific immunological tolerance. Here we show that antigens modified with polymeric forms of either N ...

Cancer immunotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors (CPIs) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) has demonstrated clinical efficacy but is frequently accompanied with severe adverse events caused by excessive and systemic immune system activation. Here, we addressed ...

Identifying the drivers of the observed interindividual variability of the human immune system is crucial to our understanding of infectious and immune-mediated diseases. The contribution of genetic and non-genetic factors to immunological differences betw ...

Several embodiments of the present disclosure relate to therapeutic compositions configured to target the liver of a subject and that are useful in the treatment or prevention of one or more of transplant rejection, autoimmune disease, food allergy, and im ...

Compositions and methods for modulating innate and adaptive immunity and for use in immunotherapy are disclosed. In particular, the invention relates to novel ganciclovir derivatives and methods of using them for the treatment of immune-related disorders, ...

Several embodiments of the present disclosure relate to glycotargeting therapeutics that are useful in the treatment of transplant rejection, autoimmune disease, food allergy, and immune response against a therapeutic agent. In several embodiments, the com ...

The identification of cancer stem cells (CSCs) has fundamentally changed the understanding of tumor biology. CSCs drive tumor initiation and long term tumor growth, can cause relapse and are essential for metastatic colonization. These features place cance ...

Immune-mediated disorders such as autoimmune diseases, graft-versus-host disease or allergies, are a major contemporary burden. Despite significant advances in the field of immunological tolerance, immunosuppressive drugs are still the current hallmark for ...

Effective vaccine design and public vaccination programs have led to the eradication of several diseases and protected millions of people from deadly infections. However, intracellular infections remain a challenge and their eradication requires the activa ...

Unwanted immunity develops in response to many protein drugs, in autoimmunity, in allergy, and in transplantation. Approaches to induce immunological tolerance aim to either prevent these responses or reverse them after they have already taken place. We pr ...

New approaches based on induction of antigen-specific immunological tolerance are being explored for treatment of autoimmunity and prevention of immunity to protein drugs. Antigens associated with apoptotic debris are known to be processed tolerogenically ...

The magnitude of the human antibody response to viral antigens is highly variable. To explore the human genetic contribution to this variability, we performed genome-wide association studies of the immunoglobulin G response to 14 pathogenic viruses in 2,36 ...

Antigen presentation is no longer the exclusive domain of cells of hematopoietic origin. Recent works have demonstrated that lymph node stromal cell (LNSC) populations, such as fibroblastic reticular cells, lymphatic and blood endothelial cells, not only p ...
