Photochemistry is a discipline that studies the interaction between light and matter with the scope to induce chemical transformations. The first conjugation between light and chemistry can be dated back to the lifespan of Giacomo Luigi Ciamician, who is c ...

Facades are the primary interface controlling the flow of solar energy in buildings and affecting their energy balance and environmental impact. Recently, large-scale 3D printing (3DP) of translucent polymers has been explored as a technique for fabricatin ...

To solve the toxicity issues related to lead-based halide perovskitesolar cells, the lead-free double halide perovskite Cs2AgBiBr6 is proposed. However, reduced rate of charge transferin double perovskites affects optoelectronic performance. We designeda s ...

The main objective of this project is to generate guidance for settlement planning on the optimisation of spatial designs in terms of: zoning, densification/decongestion, morphology of the built environment and strategic planning of public open space. Simi ...

Previous studies have identified links between the urban form and the performance of urban energy systems. Land use and density are two important aspects of urban planning and design. This paper studies the relationship between these aspects and the perfor ...

CO2 is used more and more as a refrigerant in the commercial and food retail industries and a majority of experts believe that its share in the field of residential heating, commercial refrigeration and mobile air conditioning across Europe will be higher ...

The main challenges associated with a growing production of renewable electricity are intermittency and dispersion. Intermittency generates spikes in production, which need to be curtailed when exceeding consumption. Dispersion means electricity has to be ...

European energy directives define highly‐demanding performance standards, from zero‐energy buildings to positive‐energy buildings. In Switzerland, one of the specific objectives of the new “Energy strategy 2050” is to install PV systems on existing buildin ...

Photovoltaic cells offer a sustainable way of generating electricity from sunlight, and they will be of growing economical importance for decades to come. Hybrid organic-inorganic solar cells, such as dye sensitized solar cells or perovskite solar cells, a ...

Among the century’s main challenges, climate change and the need for energy sources diversification are of great importance. In this context, renewable energies undoubtedly have an important role to play. Photovoltaic (PV) electricity is especially well su ...
