The massive increase in stochastic renewable generation, expected in the context of the energy transition, poses challenges to the stability of the power grid. Battery energy storage can positively impact the penetration of distributed solar photovoltaic ( ...

Data-driven building energy modeling is an emerging solution to facilitate the implementation of energy-flexible buildings. However, its black-box nature hinders interpretation, including with respect to human-building interaction. This drawback may bring ...

The multifaceted nature of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) can lead to wide inter-individual differences in disease manifestation in terms of brain pathology and cognition. The lack of understanding of phenotypic diversity in A ...

Uncertainty levels in forecasting of renewable generation and demand are known to affect the amount of reserve required to operate the power grid with a given level of reliability. In this paper, we quantify the effects on the system reserve and reliabilit ...

Previous studies have identified links between the urban form and the performance of urban energy systems. Land use and density are two important aspects of urban planning and design. This paper studies the relationship between these aspects and the perfor ...

Operational practices of both power transmission and distribution grids are impacted by the increasing connection of renewable energy resources, electric vehicles and energy storage systems. A timely and accurate knowledge of the system state, coupled with ...

This paper deals with the modeling of the long term evolution of regional energy systems in a smart city and smart grid environment. It is shown that demand response and distributed grid energy storage, driven by dynamic pricing schemes, based on locationa ...

Early-life stress is a key risk factor for the development of neuropsychiatric disorders later in life. Neuronal cell adhesion molecules have been strongly implicated in the pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders and in modulating social behaviors associ ...

The objective of this paper is to analyze the value of energy replacement in the context of demand response. Energy replacement is defined as the possibility of the consumer to choose the most convenient source for providing space heating to a smart buildi ...

This paper is devoted to the infrastructure issues arising from the ultrafast charging of electric vehicles in the timeframe of ~5 minutes. To mitigate variances and peaks caused by high energy transfer rate and pulse-like load, an ultrafast charging stati ...
