We present a narrow-linewidth second-harmonic source based on a laser diode injection locked to an optically poled silicon nitride microresonator. The device is a compact, highly-coherent dual-wavelength source, with high conversion efficiency up to 280%/W ...

Safety-critical navigation applications require that estimation errors be reliably quantified and bounded. Over the last decade, significant effort has been put to guarantee a bounded position estimation by using Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) ...

Flow reshaping is used in time-sensitive networks (as in the context of IEEE TSN and IETF Detnet) in order to reduce burstiness inside the network and to support the computation of guaranteed latency bounds. This is performed using per-flow regulators (suc ...

High-speed actuation of laser frequency(1)is critical in applications using lasers and frequency combs(2,3), and is a prerequisite for phase locking, frequency stabilization and stability transfer among optical carriers. For example, high-bandwidth feedbac ...

Wildfires are getting more severe and destructive. Due to their fast-spreading nature, wildfires are often detected when already beyond control and consequently cause billion-scale effects in a very short time. Governments are looking for remote sensing me ...

Optical-frequency combs, that is spectra of equidistant coherent optical lines, have revolutionized the precision measurements of time and frequency. In 2007 a new method to generate optical frequency combs was discovered. In contrast to conventional gener ...

Optical-frequency synthesizers, which generate frequency-stable light from a single microwave-frequency reference, are revolutionizing ultrafast science and metrology, but their size, power requirement and cost need to be reduced if they are to be more wid ...

Additive manufacturing (AM) of passive microwave components is of high interest for the cost-effective and rapid prototyping or manufacture of devices with complex geometries. Here, we present an experimental study on the properties of recently demonstrate ...

In this paper, we review the current state and discuss new developments in opto-optical modulation (OOM) of semiconductor elements for frequency comb self-referenced stabilization of ultrafast lasers. This method has been successfully used for carrier-enve ...

In this study, we investigate a concept that can be used to improve the magnetic field homogeneity in a microwave cavity applied in a novel, high-performance atomic frequency standard. We show that by modifying the boundary conditions in the case of a loop ...

Vapor-cell atomic clocks based on double resonance are high-precision instruments that have strong potential for industrial commercialization. They offer performance which is superior to quartz oscillators and are already employed for synchronization-deman ...

In vapor cell atomic clocks the atom-field interaction is typically obtained inside a microwave cavity resonator in which the microwave driving field together with a static magnetic field and an optical field are applied to excite the atoms. These fields a ...

We demonstrate the generation of high-brightness supercontinuum inside thuliumdoped fiber amplifier in 1950-2450nm spectral range with 1.7W output power and 32% slope efficiency, seeded by tunable 2000nm mode-locked laser and assisted by 3H4-3H5/3F4-3H6 th ...

In this paper, we present the design, fabrication, and electrical characterization of a low-power microwave source for interrogation of cesium atomic hyperfine transition frequency using the coherent population trapping (CPT) technique. The 4.6-GHz frequen ...

Nowadays mobile and battery-powered applications push the need for radically miniaturized and low-power frequency standards that surpass the stability achievable with quartz oscillators. For the miniaturization of double-resonance rubidium (Rb-87) atomic c ...

This thesis aimed at developing innovative packaging solutions for a miniature atomic clock and other microsystems in the cm-scale, i.e. somewhat larger than what is practical for full "chip-scale" device-package integration using clean-room technologies f ...

We present a compact frequency-stabilized laser system locked to the Rubidium absorption line of a micro-fabricated reference cell. A printed circuit board (PCB) is used to carry all the components and part of the electronics, and low-temperature co-fired ...

Cavity-optomechanical cooling via radiation pressure dynamical backaction enables ground-state cooling of mechanical oscillators, provided the laser exhibits sufficiently low phase noise. In this paper, we investigate and measure the excess phase noise of ...

Nowadays there is an increasing need for radically miniaturized and low-power atomic frequency standards, for use in mobile and battery-powered applications. For the miniaturization of double-resonance (DR) Rubidium (Rb-87) atomic clocks, the size reductio ...

We present our microwave spectroscopic studies on laser-microwave double-resonance (DR) signals obtained from a micro-fabricated Rb vapor cell. This study focuses on the characteristics and systematic shifts of the ground-state 'clock transition' in Rb-87 ...
